Were there any dark-skinned BW in the Black Panther movement? I was watching a documentary last night on the Black Panther Party. And I noticed that all of the women were light-skinned mixed looking women but all of the BM were dark-skinned BM.

Were there any influencial dark-skinned BW in the Black Panther party?

Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur was a Black Panther. She was dark brown, with kinky hair.

Yet the only women that I saw as the spokeperson was Elaine Brown, Kathleen Clever, and Huey Newtons widow. Why is that?

So? Means nothing. There were brown and darker brown complexioned black women in the BPP across this country. But only a color crazed wannabe 1970 militant mental midget "closet" like you would post something so stupid and divisive.

"Were there any influencial dark-skinned BW in the Black Panther party?"

Of course. But why do you care? Your focus and interest should be on the men -remember?

Gee Ntfs, not only are you a racist who hates black women but you are a homophobe as well. And you claim to be educated. LOL!!!!

You sound like some white, redneck, racist from South Carolina who has only two teeth in his mouth and is married to his sister.

serena during the black panthers struggle i think the shade of brown was the least of their concerns. clevers wife and newtons wife had husbands who where the most influential in the black panther party. huey is dead, who would have better knowledge of him then his wife, who was there with him through the struggle? i hope you where able to get more out of the documentary then who was light and who was dark, if not then i do believe that you missed the whole point entirely.

serenasailor:

I suspect the doc. was about the Oakland BBP.

At any rate, one can really never know unless they can find the pics of all of the black panther party chapters throughout the U.S.

Gee Ntfs, not only are you a racist who hates black women………..

I hate black women? Uh huh, and you can prove this, right? You have commentary that was written by me where I clearly called black women racist names and used profanity to describe them, right? Ok, let’s see it. FIND IT AND POST IT!

……but you are a homophobe as well. And you claim to be educated. LOL!!!!

I don’t think so. I have no problems with gay people. But I do have an aversion for hypocrites like you who call other people “faggots” knowing all the while that you are a pipe smoker and a closet queen. Like I said, I have no issues with your life style. It’s your denying and lying about it while using homophobic epitaphs to falsely describe other people for something that you secretly do. That’s what I don’t care for. Understand?

You sound like some white, redneck, racist from South Carolina who has only two teeth in his mouth and is married to his sister.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! You’re so funny. That’s the best you can do isn’t it? Everything goes back to white people who have absolutely nothing to do with the subject. But it’s not going to work –it’s about you and your male lover gone wild. Don’t forget that!

Back when I was privy to such things, there was story going around quoting one Panther as saying, black is "beautiful", but I don't like my women too "beautiful". A rather typical attitude of these faux revolutionaries who were long on bluster and short of implementation.

Boy, those Black Panther men (bless their heart) mainly went for the light, bright and sometimes white. The most militant black men are the ones feenin' for white women the most. That in NO WAY takes away from what they did for the people. Happy 40th Anniversary!!!!

"The most militant black men are the ones feenin' for white women the most. That in NO WAY takes away from what they did for the people."

This is very, very true. No doubt about. Regardless of the silly accusations by the skin color crazed loonies, what those brothers did still remains in the history books. It cannot be diminished nor erased by the tired ravings of skin color shizoids. It matters not what the skin color the women was, they were still black! And the brothers did what they believed was right given the hostile circumstances facing them.
