i was jsut talking to this guy on yahoo and he asked me what features turned me on about a man. So one of the features that i listed were eyebrows. I tried showing him a picture of the type of eyebrows i liked on a man, and he refused to open the link claiming he didnt want to look at links with men in them.

This isnt the first time ive had an experience like this before. One time one of my male friends was shwoing me pictures of girls he thought were attractive, so i decided to show him pictures of guys i found attractive and he didnt want to look at the pictures...claiming he felt gay looking at pictures of hot guys.

my question is why can men show women pictures of hot girls and we not get offended but you try doing the same thing to a man and he feels liek its a threat to his sexuality.

i neve rdid understand this about men...alot of them cant even aknowledge that another man is attractive without feeling queerish.

i wish men were more confident in their sexuality.

It all has to do with confidence in ones sexually and the content of the conversation. Brothers have no problem acknowledging beauty in men but not in a desirable, sexual kind of way. As a heterosexual man myself I have no fear of being turned out or otherwise and I'm not ashamed to admit if a man is hansom or not. In fact it's pretty much impossible to recognize what we would consider to be ugly without recognizing what we would consider to be beautiful. Again the key is to separate physical appearance from desirability. As men it is detrimental to ourselves if we are unable to recognize and express verbally the beauty of our people whether it be men or women.

There does exist a double standard. When a woman acknowledges another woman as attractive/beautiful, no one questions her sexual preference. However, when a man acknowledges another man as attractive/handsome, suddenly his masculinity and sexuality are called into question.

To avoid odd looks, suspicion or innuendo, most men refuse to comment on another man's appearance.

As a woman, I can say to another woman - that's a lovely dress you're wearing or that hairstyle is very flattering on you or you've got great legs or a figure to die for. Her response will usually be a genuine smile and/or a thank you.

But if a man tells another man - I like your tie or your cologne or your haircut fits your face or you've got great biceps - it's like, what are you trying to say? You gay or something, dude? So it's in a man's best interest not to comment on or compliment another man's appearance or physical attributes.

I think this also explains why women can be openly affectionate toward one another without anyone questioning it. Whereas with men, anything beyond a handshake or shoulder-bump is not viewed as "normal guy behavior".

That is, outside the confines of sports--where you can shower together, hug, kiss, cry on shoulders, and feel on behinds with abandon...

Misty, I don't know if it's a "black thing" but my experience has been that black women have a problem with complimenting members of the same sex, as well. We rarely say anything nice about each other's key physical attractiveness. We compliment the hair maybe or some other unisex/asexual element, e.g. height, but we seldom compliment each others faces, lips, eyes and bodies. We also REFUSE to openly think highly of our own physical beauty for fear of seeming conceited. However, white women will tell you (and each other) what parts they love about their bodies as well as the parts they can't stand. My black girlfriends and I do not have these kinds of conversations for some reason. I have no problem admiring another women's beauty (face, body ect.) nor do I hesitate to admire my own...except for when I'm around black women.

Tonya, I've honestly never had or seen that problem.

I saw a black woman once with the most gorgeous legs I've ever seen on a human being, nice shape, flawless skin and all. I told her so and told her she should consider modeling. The way she was wearing her skirt, she knew she had nice legs and had probably been told so before.

Black women compliment me on my hair all the time (when it's looking right).

Who cares about men's emotional issues. Just use them for the only things they are good for (sex and money) and move on. We have more important issues to concern ourselves with. (Oh I almost forgot, they are also good for doing menial labor things such as installing light fixtures, yard work, moving heavy objects and shit like that.)

And ladies, there's nothing wrong with paying each other (and men) a compliment. As long as it's sincere.

I never noticed that white women are any less critical of each other than black women, Tonya. With their penchant for perfection white women are just as catty as females any other race, IMO. It's a gal thang. And you're right, Mzuri. Men are such complicated, sensitive, insecure, egotistical creatures that to try and figure them out is akin to opening a "can of worms." So, we should just "let sleeping dogs lie." (And so much for old sayings.) LOL.

I don't see any point or reason to a man complimenting the looks of another man. That's TRE GAY, in my book. And I don't give a dayam what some woman thinks about that.

Just because women like to revel in each others' vanity does mean that men should do the same.

Beauty is not a real and valid virtue, ESPECIALLY not with respect to men. I'm much more inclined to compliment a man for being smart, industrious, honest, perservering and generous than I am for how big his biceps are (for Jimminy Crickets Sakes!).

WORD BRO 100%

Aint about men's sexuality or anything. It's about nikka CAN YOU JUMP? HOW FAST YOU RUN? WHAT YOUR GRADE POINT AVERAGE? WHAT YOUR RIDE LOOK LIKE?

Men could give a shit what a mofo look like for real because a man not supposed to be pretty, he's a man. Now I will admit some brothers is competetive with penis size and will envy a brother that is more hung. They might compare sizes when they are younger, but you have to be a man to understand. Men have no issue with their sexuality. That's false.

Abm, you better get out here with Jiminy Crickets shit though man!! (**clowning Yo azz on that**) LOL :-) :-) :-)

Okay everyone. Here is the Mzuri biology lesson for the day:

Women are women. We have always been female. We were female since the very beginning of conception and we have remained as such.

Males were once female. Sometime between the moment of conception (when they were female) and their birth, they turned into males. So they are basically women trapped in men's bodies. And they produce this whack hormone called testosterone which causes them to have mood swings every few minutes. And I think it causes them to be more prone to commit acts of violence.

Men have issues and they are confused. Why do you think we have such an enormous proliferation of gayness and transgender/transexuality of our men? ALL men have some degree of feminine qualities.

Take my advice and stop pondering the mysteries of the world by trying to figure them out. Unless you're an anthropologist or sociologist you'll go crazy pursuing this. Get a man (or a collection) that you think is straight and work with it for as long as you can. If he acts stupid, replace him. Women must become more progressive with our mating rituals.

Renata - that 18 year shit is for the birds. The human mating cycle lasts for FOUR YEARS. It's been that way for millions of years and it's not going to change.

I think it's a double standard --because it's considered "normal" for men to be able to compliment on another woman's beauty in the presence of a woman they're with (regardless of the relationship he has with the woman he just happens to be with at that time). And I think this double standard stems from the fact that, most men are terribly insecure --more so than the average woman --and it bruises their attempt to plump their ego when a woman verbalizes that they aren't "THE (only) MAN".....they're just one of many.

And wise women "see" this for what it's worth --it seperates the boys from the men, so to speak.

You guys act as if what makes you different from women is that you don't like to look at and admire each other. Well, woman don't either if they're straight. But women are secure enough in their sexuality to admit that they look at and access another woman and I tend to think that these men who say they don't check out how another brotha carries himself and whether or not his clothes are expensive, are in denial. People in general castgorize other people by their appearance and demeanor. This is involves first impressions. Personality and intelligence are acknowledged later.
Mzuri, I pretty much agree with your analysis of the situation. But it's easier said than done.

Mzuri, I wish my husband WOULD walk out on us after my son turned 4...he would get jacked up....We've been together for 9 years, though, so I have no reason at this time to believe he won't be around for his son.

That is....if this KID acts right. I don't know HOW I'd raise him alone. The two of us TOGETHER are having a hard time. Willful, mean, bad attitude (will sneeze, get angry that he sneezed, and look for someone to SLAP, I'm NOT KIDDING)...if he gets TOO MUCH WORSE, mama and daddy might be leaving him TOGETHER. Do you think I'm going to let him off the hook after this kid turns four (knowing he's going to be meaner, more willful, stronger, etc.), the way he bitched and moaned for 7 years for a baby? No way. 18 years, like it or not.

After the kid turns 19, my husband can go where he wants to...LOL

Whatever Renata. You can believe what you will. The human mating cycle is four years. After that, there's no monogamy. If a man stays in a relationship for longer than that, his ass is most likely getting some on the side. Monogamy is monotonous.

There's some merit to the seven year itch. But the four year mating cycle is a fact. I learned all about it on the Discovery channel.

Here's an excerpt of a book review on the subject:

The downside of the high hopes of romantic love, of course, are the feelings of depression and abandonment that come when a relationship ends. Ms. Fisher documents these emotions not only with science but also with snippets of poetry, both familiar and obscure. Even more provocative than her thesis on bipedalism and monogamy is her account of why, on average, marriages that end in divorce last about four years.

She observes that the females among our distant ancestors, about 3.5 million years ago, typically stayed with a partner just long enough to bear a child, nurse it and raise it to the point where the mother's extended family could care for it, leaving both parents free to seek new partners. Perhaps this four-year span reflects the work of a brain circuit that evolved to promote attachment. Like any adaptive mechanism, though, it was just strong enough to promote reproduction. After four years, at least for some couples, the cycle may be complete.

As for cheating, I can't say he will or he won't. I'm not psychic. That's another issue I'd have to deal with if it ever comes up.

But, I'm not going to raise THIS boy alone, HELL NAW. If I had a sweet, agreeable, "pollyanna" type child, I probably wouldn't care. But as far as me raising THIS boy alone....I'd threaten my husband with all kinds of stuff before that happens. Which is kind of moot. So far, he's given me no indication that he's thinking of doing so. He has the child in day care (so I can get a break), and even has a savings account for him.

BUT...he may not be your typical man. He comes from a highly religious, highly TRADITIONAL home where both his parents were around, his mother never worked a day in her life (she married at 17), and they had a servant from the time the first child was born until the last (4th) moved out of the home.

So, I think, for him, it's more a case of seeing the example his father set and trying to live up to it.

Not that it would make a difference to me...regardless of his parents and their example, he ain't leaving me to raise THIS kid alone. Whether he WANTS to or not is his own business.

It sounds to me as if he needs an ass whoopin!!!

That's what's wrong with these children today. They aren't getting that good old fashioned corporal punishment that we were raised on. My parents beat me as needed and there's nothing wrong with me. I never had to hit on my children too much. I basically just threatened to kill them and they straightened right on up.

That information you have posted looks like what typically happens with single parents, men and women....have a child with one mate, wait a couple of years, have a child with another mate....Just not for me.

Plus, leaving the child for the extended family to care for? The first child, MAYBE. The second through ?th child? HELL NAW.

He's TWO.

If he were a six year old with this behavior, we'd be BOXING. I can't beat a two year old like that. I just can't.

I thought your son was 2 when you posted his picture about 2 years ago, Renata. And if you're so into your marriage why did you mention not too long ago that there was an attractive guy on a job you suddenly had and who you were developing an interest in???? And are you still having weight problems???? hummmm.

What's the point of even getting married? I'd rather stay single

Back....no, I posted it about ONE year ago. Those pics I posted is from when he was maybe 8 months old. I only post them because he looks nothing like that anymore and won't really be recognized. I really miss those chubby cheeks. He's so tall and thin now and has no more fat on his legs. My baby isn't a baby anymore.

There wasn't an attractive guy...there was a psychotically fucking bitching hot and fine and hard to ignore guy sitting right next to me. IN MY FACE. EVERY DAY. I told my husband about him, eventually. Hell, I could have overlooked and even ignored his ass if he was "attractive". What made it even harder is that he liked me, too. I couldn't take that pressure.

(It's starting to dawn on me that younger guys find me attractive. Yesterday, an hispanic guy who couldn't have been older than 20 tried to get my phone number.)

I still need to lose weight, but my doctor refuses to assist me. She says that I'm a normal weight.....but she looks like she's never seen anything higher than a 2, so it's hard to accept her opinion on what's normal.

Well, BB, a lot of people say "love", but in my opinion, you should be married if you want to raise children. That works for some and not others. Some people prefer to have children as a single parent and even adopt without mates. I don't think I could raise a child alone, and actually REFUSE to have a child out of wedlock and without at least a few years of knowing the father. I wouldn't care if I had a boyfriend for 15 years, if he's not my husband, he's not getting any children from me. That's just what works best for me. But I'm an odd type anyways...

I don't really connect with "boyfriends". I refuse to cook for them, live with them, or have children with them, and if I don't hear from them in a week or more, I really don't care. My husband doesn't have to ask where dinner is....boyfriends know not to ask.

Also, seriously, I'm very impatient and just don't feel like the drama of trying to get financial assistance for a child from a guy I wasn't into enough to marry. I mean really, if I'm not willing to marry a guy, do I REALLY feel like chasing him around for 18 years trying to get help with the kid...and that's not just financial. Sometimes kids, especially boys, need their fathers around for discipline and teaching them things. I don't have time to look him.

Renata,

Other than disagreeing with you about the Mexican illegal(a$$) immigrants, I really LIKE and AGREE with A LOT of what you say.

Especially the part about a woman chasing after a guy that refuses to take care of his kid. I think there likely comes a point when the cost of all the fighting, distraction and hatred outweighs the benefit of the money.

But then, I'll never be a struggling single mother. So WTF do I know.

*shrugs*

Also, there's the "aggravation" issue with other things.

For example:

Single: you lose your job and can't afford your child's insurance or his daycare expenses. You look for his father to help you. It may take weeks to find him. It may take even longer to get him to send money.

Married: you lose your job and can't afford YOUR HALF of your child's insurance and daycare expenses. You go to the bank and take what you need and neither your husband nor any lawyer have any right to stop you.

OR:
Single: You get off at 6 and you're stuck in traffic. You need someone to pick up your son from day care on time or you have to pay late fees. You call the child's father, his girlfriend answers and there's drama. Or he won't answer because he thinks you're asking for money. And that's assuming you know where to find him at all.

Married: You get off at 6 and you're late picking up your child. You call your husband to pick him up instead.

Or, it's 2 in the morning and the baby wakes up upset. You don't feel like getting up because you're really tired. You have no choice. Now...if you have a spouse who watches sports until 3 am....he can rock the baby back to sleep.

I'm just really impatient....not a virtue, but true.

There's no way I would have been into that hispanic guy even if he were my age. I don't have an issue with his race....but...he was a THUG and had cornrows down his back...NASTY! EW FUCKING EW! I wouldn't date a black guy who looked like that.

I get the heebie jeebies just thinking about it....blech!

To ABM....LOL

SEE...NO ONE WAS TALKING ABOUT BONING ANYBODY!!!

I just said he was hot and very.....ummm...good-looking.

THAT'S the real issue with men....not that you do or don't find someone attractive, but that you assume if someone's really, really attractive then some boning is bound to happen.

Renata, I think you're quite a bit younger than me. But I think there is something in the air with young guys and older women. For instance, there's this young brother at the Taco Bell drive-through I frequent who's always winking and smiling at me and giving me extra fire sauce packets. (The other day he gave me, like 15. I had TWO tacos, what do I need so many for??? LOL) Go figure! Maybe it's the Demi-Ashton effect. LOL

Yvette....you may have a thing there! Demi-Ashton may be an example for a lot of people.

Also, women are waiting longer to have kids, so there are more older women who don't already have 3 kids....the guy can get an older woman who's basically free to party all night.

And older women don't throw on muumuu's as soon as they hit 35 like they did years ago. So they don't look so "motherly".

Just my best guesses.

You say that as if that's a bad thing.

Yvettep,

If I were younger man, I'd be trynah deal it to older chicks too.

I can't IMAGINE attempting to date today's 20-something chick. 'Cause I actually LIKE my sanity.

LOL.....ABM, I think you just answered Misty's question:

you can't find a guy attractive, because if you find him attractive, you'll have to bone him.

I never will understand you guys......

Later, I have to pick up my baby.

Older women are easier. No games. Little drama.

They got things to do and places to go so they want the sausage dealt to them quick, hard and with a lot of heat.

When I was 19, 20, 21 that's all I stuck was old broads (church ones are really great).

Shit I didn't care how many kids they had Renata. I had at least 4 "booty buddies" that were single moms. Hell one of them had a 19 year old son and I was 20 then.

There's nothing like fucking some nice looking older women who keep their bodies together and got a little money. They just want you to pretend like you're their "boyfriend" when you're with them. Go here, go there, stick that cushion, go home.

I used to get my car notes paid, spending cash for school, money for air fare. Any dude younger than 25 would be very smart to get some older financially secure girlfriends.

But you have to be a horn-dog to keep up with older chicks because that's mainly what they want from a young stallion.

I didn't get into the young chicks until I hit 40. I'm now 47 and my girlfriend's 28. I was fucking a 21 year old from the trade school across the street before that.
