Why would they? You're point is?
If AA are combinations of different tribes, in some cases, different races, Of course not. AA are the product of those differnt tribes. Genetics, race, color, are not determined by looks. Sanaa Lathan may have a 8th generation African ancestor. Do you honestly know?

You seem to have a grudge against people and tribes against Africa. "How can I truly be related to them anyway. Look at them"

Before, I respected you're opinions(as everyone elses)

You go far out of line Li_ze. I don't even try to rationalize youre posts anymore.

Although there are similarities between the two groups, I rarely have difficulty distinguishing between the two.

Also, I have a hunch that more than different African tribes mixing created the AA "look."

For some reason, I cannot post the direct links to the picture threads on this site so you're going to have to click on the "Ancient Egypt and Egyptology" link to get to the actual pictures. When you click on the "Ancient Egypt and Egyptology" link, you will see a list of topics. Look for the picture threads of Africans entitled "OT: African Picture Thread". The various threads include pictures of people from Senegal, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Somalia, Kenya, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, etc.
The pictures are among the most beautiful I've ever seen. Enjoy....

Well, Lil_ze. The differences between the people in post #1 and the non-mixed black people in post #2 are cultural..nothing more. And since both groups live on two different continents with two different cultures, I don't know if anyone with any sense care to understand your point.

Another thing: The people in the second post do not look like AAs. They look like MOVIE STARS. There's no way that you can convince me that you look anything like Denzel or Kobe Bryant (even if you were an AA and not a Cuban immigrant). Most AAs are overweight and far from looking that good. However, if the dude in the first post (4th from top) didn't have the ear thing going on and a plate in his lip, he'd look a lot like Michael Jordan. Infact, all of them in that post come closer to those (unmixed) movie stars than most AAs could.

"the people in the second post don't look like african americans" they don't? from what i know they are ALL african-americans. none of them was born a "movie star". they were born looking that way, because this is how our people look. i didn't realize that kobe bryant, chingy, ciara, eva pigford, common, etc were movie stars. here are some "non-famous" photos of our people.

photo of a native african}
i wouldn't try to convince you (tonya) that i look like denzel or kobe. but the truth is i do. black americans look like the people in the second set of photos. we look nothing like the people in the first set.

I have to disagree. Most AAs are a bit darker and african looking (on average) than the ones you posted. Hell, you didn't post ANY dark AAs. You have to know that's not representative.

I can't distinguish west Africans from AAs 80% of the time. East Africans (mixed or unmixed) are a differnt story. Same for unmixed Sudanese.

Katrina is the perfect example of what black American looks like: The majority Chocolate/darkskinned. A significantly smaller portion medium brown skinned. Very few light and very, very few--virtually none--yellow skinned.

Dumbass, lil dick. It's hardly likely we would look like CENTRAL Africans when most of our ancestors are from WEST Africa. Get a FUCKING MAP and learn the difference between WEST and CENTRAL Africa before you get on the internet and show everyone else how ignorant you are to not know the difference between the two regions.

first of all, "if i want to see black americans, i should look at footage of katrina.... you can't get any closer than that". "katrina footage is black america". so in other words the photos i posted of our people are NOT black americans? sure the people in the footage of katrina are black americans, and SO are the photos of the people i posted. this idea that there is a true "black american" physical type is just a lie. the people i posted photos of are no less a representation of our people, than the people in the katrina footage.
i did post photos of dark skin people. gabrielle union, michael jordan, mos def. are they not dark? or to be considered dark you have to be the color of a vhs video tape?
to address the comments of renata. i do know the differance between west and central africa. what did i do that would make you think i didn't know the difference between central and west africa? sure there are "some" west africans that "look like" our people. there are some ethiopians that look like our people. so what. there may be a handful of our people who still dwell in regions of west africa, but the fact is is that our people are a distinct racial group. anyone can look at our people and see that we are TOTALLY different from the racial groups in africa. if the poster "grind", can say that the east african and the sudanese (unmixed, whatever that means), look different to him than the west africans. then there is another person who is testifying to the RACIAL difference in the peoples of africa. you can always find a photo or two of people in africa (from various regions) who "look like" our people. many different races have members that "resemble" other racial groups. the photos posted speak for themselves. i just asked a rhetorical question and posted some photos. but its clear that the posters on this board got the point, without me having to say anything about the photos. if a handful of west africans resemble our people, that doesn't change the utter beauty and distinctivness of our people. our people are not one color, or look one way. thats just non-sense. we have various physical looks. the people in new orleans are no more or less a representation of our people, than the photos i posted. i could easily find photos of west africans who look nothing like our people. and let us not forget that many of our people went to liberia to establish a colony there. those of our people who went to liberia, also spread out to other regions of west africa over time. so some of our people are dwelling in parts of west africa, but the majority of them are not our people. this is why there has been a civil war in liberia since our people went there. the dark races in africa have been raping, robbing, and murdering our people there. the africans have made a sport out of raping and murdering our little girls there. the dark races in africa understand that we are not there people. too bad many of our people don't (or don't want to) understand this clear reality.

I can not believe I just read this line: the dark races in africa have been raping, robbing, and murdering our people there

I've said before that whites must think black people are better than dogs. After all with dogs you have to train each succesive generation. Blacks train their own children to think in these self-destructive, self-hating ways. Sadly I agree it has become important to distinguish black people...by ancestry first and culture second. These categorizations are necessary because I would not want anyone putting me in the same group as the person who started this thread.

Actually, I thought the same thing when I saw the footage of Katrina survivors. They seemed to have very strong African features. But realitstically, I know I can't view that footage as proof of the grade of "Blackness" of AAs anymore than I can use the images of AA celebirties to indicate the "Mixedness" of AAs. Either attempt would be a bit faulty I think because both groups are just a tiny snapshot of the AA population as a whole.

And seeing that the "look" of Katrina survivors has been mentioned on here a few times; it got me thinking. Is it possible that the survivors' look was influenced by the special socioeconomic structure of the Creoles of NO?

For example, in the rest of the country, multiracials didn't hold any special standing (as far as the holders of power were concerned) in their communities and they were still viewed as Blacks. Since their "mixedness" gave them no advantage in society, they were more relaxed about having children with Blacks and thereby affecting the look of the AA population.

However, Creoles in NO society did have an advantagous standing and so they were more careful to choice to reproduce with other creoles to maintain their position and thereby not having a significant affect on the look of AA in NO. Similar to Haiti perhaps, no?

PS - This is no judgement on Creoles, Haitians, or anyone else. Just a thought.

TrinyC, this is not true:

For example, in the rest of the country, multiracials didn't hold any special standing (as far as the holders of power were concerned) in their communities and they were still viewed as Blacks.

You never heard of the Boules, Jack and Jill, etc.?

Washington D.C. has "Georgetown", Philly has a "Mixed folks" section, then you have Martha's Vineyard and Sag Harbor, Noble Hill in South Carolina.

There's a lot of segregated mulatto areas still left.

"Georgetown" was the Capital of the Mixed people, not "New Orleans".

Well, Pretty, they may have had "standing" in their community or the AA community but in comparison to Whites of their day; they had little power. But you're right, nothing I wrote is true per se and there were various mixed communities scattered throughtout the US. Keep in mind what I wrote are just the ramblings in my head.

first of all, "boules", "jack and jill" etc, are NOT based on skin tone or color. those groups are based on social standing and money.

brownbeauty said, "there's alot of segregated mulatto areas still left". this is total madness. there are no segregated areas based on if you are a "mulatto" or not. i would love for anyone to provide ANY evidence that there are segregated areas in america based on if you are a mulatto or not. "philly has a MIXED-FOLKS section"? are you kidding me? where is this section, and how is it constructed around so-called "mixed-folks"?
georgetown is not a area for "mixed folks". sag harbor (which i have been to) is not an area for "mulatoos" or "light skin people. these areas are designed for and cater to black people with money. it has ZERO to do with skin tone. where is the proof that areas in america, are segregated based on skin color? the book "don't play in the sun", does NOT prove that there are areas TODAY, that are seperated based on skin shade.

as far as misty saying the "west africans look way better than the east africans". i have to disagree with that. the people (especially) in places like ethiopia, somalia, ertirea, and SOME perts of the sudan and kenya are FAR more beautiful than the people who dwell in west africa. the people in east africa have very nice physical features. they just look better than west africans. ive seen some VERY beautiful ethiopian, somailian, and eritrean women. however its very rare that i see a beautiful west african female. many west african females are ugly. i just being honest. west africans don't compare to east africans in terms of beauty. they just don't.

oh yeah, brownbeauty. im not a creole. my family is from KEY WEST FLORIDA. we are known as "conch people". we have a distinct history. my family is cuban and bahamian mixed, who settles in key west. i take a great deal of pride in my family's history, and who we are. we are NOT "creoles".

This is not a "Central African"
---this girl is ETHIOPIAN.

These men are "DINKA" from
the SUDAN, not "Central Africa".

Note: Whenever you see Africans with "plates" in their mouths (not their ears--their MOUTHS), they are 90% likely to be North East Africans. Nuer tribe or Azende.

The girl with the plate in her mouth is a Princess wearing a "Wedding Plate" about to be married. She is from a tribe in Ethiopia and you can read her story in a book called "AFRICAN CEREMONIES".

the photos of the women with the plates in their lip DWELL in ethiopia, but they are NOT true ethiopians. the people with plates in their lips are racially different from true ethiopians. ethiopians, somalians, eritreans, and the people in djibouti are racially similar and look very much alike. the tribes in ethiopia that wear lip plates are clearly a different racial group than the true ethiopian. ethiopians do not consider the people tribes who wear lip plates ethiopians. ethiopians view the lip plate wearing tribes as black africans who migrated to certain parts of ethiopia.

BULL---FUCKING---SHIT.

The "mixed raced" Ethiopians are the ones who aren't TRUE Ethiopians.

The Ethiopian girl above with the plate in her mouth represents the original AXUM EMPIRE and is the MOTHER of all those watered down spoonheads you're trying to LIE ON.

Learn the history of "WHY" the plate began from Cushite religion.

well, we disagree. sure their are some ethiopians that are "mixed" with arab blood. but the true ethiopians are a distinct people not mixed with arabs. the people who founded and inhabited the empire of axum were NOT people like the girl with the plate in her lip. the empire of axum was NOT inhabited by those tribes who practice placing plates in their lips. her are some photos of the TRUE ethiopians. these people are NOT "mixed". this is how the true cushites looked in ancient times, and how they look today.

these are the cushites or true ethiopians. the people with plates in their lips are non-cushites who wandered and settled in the region of ethiopia. but they are not the founders of axum, and they have NO claim on ethiopian history. the ethiopians fully understand these people are not the original inhabitantes of ethiopia.
