Here’s an interesting little snippet of interracial family life I found in a recent Life Magazine. It’s part of an interview of White German-born supermodel Heidi Klum.
Life Magazine: "How do you feel about the coverage you’ve received as a mixed-race family?"
Heidi Klum: "In Germany - and this started with a newspaper headline – they call us ‘the Patchwork Family.’ I was, like Hmmm. Is this an insult or is this positive? I talked to [Klum’s Black husband] Seal about it, and we’re, like, it’s actually kind of great – we’re all different shades and we came together we all love each other. They call it black and white, but I’m not white, I’m a shade of brown and so is our daughter, Leni. She’s the lightest, then it’s me, then it’s our son, and then it’s Seal. So I think Hey, it’s actually kind of nice to have a ‘patchwork family’."
My favorite part is where Klum says that she and her daughter (whose father is White) are a "shade of brown". Because I can’t WAIT to see the kind of chromatic scale SHE’S peering through.
PS: Below is someone's (fairly MONSTROUS) projection of what Seal's and Heidi's kid(s) might grow to look like.

Oh --and Heidi is definitely lying to herself when she stated that she and her (very white) daughter are "a shade of brown". She is a white woman who is "tan" --and the darkest "tan" on a white person doesn't make them look the least bit black. |

Seal is barely Black himself! He's a Nigger. We kicked him out of the race long, loooong, long time ago. Heidi doesn’t know what the fuck she's talking about. Her man must not have gotten the memo. Either that or his ass is embarrassed to let his woman know how he's been evicted. Poor thang. She prob’ly hooked up with him for none other than the “street Cred” ...some hooey like that. What a let-down this is ultimately gonna be. I hope it doesn't affect the kids! |

Yeah. I like Heidi and all (In spite of all the gloss, makeup, wonderbras and airbrushing, there seems to be something genuinely 'nice' about her). But her and her kid being some "shade of brown" really crackmethefuhkup. |

Maybe Heidi is operating on the principle that black contains all colors. Anybody grasping at straws, looking for an excuse to claim a little blackness can't be all bad. |

Interesting juxtaposition.
Though, others might argue it's far easier for a (beautiful) White person to claim Blackness than it is for most Black people to actually LIVE Black. |
