I heard Spike Lee say that he hated interracial couples. Did anyone else hear that before? He said when he sees a black man with a white/non-black woman he wants to attack them. Did anyone else read that before? |

ABM, I like him because he's intelligent, he's responsible and he's a black man who tries to set the right example for black youth. He is handsome to me, because I respect and admire him as a person.
Moonsigns is bitter because the man is one of the few who is not weak to her.

I couldn't care less if the cat wasn't attracted to me. It's not like he's on the same (physical) level of men like Blair Underwood, Morris Chesnut or Bryce Wilson --men who are all so incredibly handsome!!!!!!!!! BUT --his wife sure is light and blue-eyed, though! That's interesting, especially for a man who "hates" interracial couples.

And, at the risk of sounding gay, I don't see what's so horribly ugly about Spike Lee. Hell. There are plenty guys - ESPECIALLY White ones - I see in leading acting roles who are uglier than he is.
He's short as hell. But the ugly thing's overblown, I think. |

Spike Lee's mother was black. She died of cancer. His father thereupon married a white woman. She mistreated him and his siblings--I think ultimately one after the other she ran them out of the house.
Spike's mother had stuck by his father, working a steady job while he, a jazz musician who did not believe in playing electric jazz or any other sort of music, sat around on his artistic temperment.
He holds a grudge against his Dad for this and for favoring the mother over his children and thus does not like interracial couples, attributing to them all kinds of psychological thangs he saw in the relationship between his father and step mother.
So now what do y'all think? |

Wrong, Chris.
Spike Lee's father left his mother for a white woman immediately after the mother was diagnosed with cancer.
She wasn't dead yet.
His father was an unemployed musician and Spike's mom supported him and their children for 15 years by working two jobs.
When she got sick from cancer, Spike's father moved in with this fat huge white woman who took up supporting him.
The white woman didn't mistreat the kids, but the kids had to watch their mother suffer for several years alone before she finally died.
You're right about Spike's resentment against his father, although he has since hired his father to do music on his film projects.

I totally agree with you PBG Moonsigns is intimidated by BM that she cannot dominate and control like her husband. She gets angry because she realizes that powerful BM like Spike Lee and Denzel Washington are self-hating and colorstruck like her hubby.

Um...I can't say that I have ever been "baffled" by Spike's choice in mates. Folks hook up for all manner of reasons and that's their business as far as I'm concerned--especially folks I do not know personally.
But as for the Lees, "Please, Baby, Please" is one of my daughters' all time favorite books. I love it, too--just adorable, plus amazing artwork. (I can't remember the illustrator's name right now...)
