Beyond the anonymity provided by the Internet, wouldn’t it be interesting to see how this board’s respondents interact with each other if they had an “honest” perception or idea of what they each looked like and more, without the aid of a visual photo?

Describe yourself...

================================================================

Or does it really matter at all? The point is, when people (can and do) actually visualize whomever they’re dealing with, the entire context of their exchange with that person or persons may change according to their mental perception (i.e., visualization, etc). This board’s thread’s (e.g., written dialogues - Q&A, Flaming, Proclamations, etc.) take the place of actual sound. As such, perception is still a very powerful tool, even if the source(s) [as listed above] of its conclusions are in some cases irrelevant or have little or no merit.

These self-identifying descriptions are quite interesting in that they highlight varying degrees of individual diversity and provide a more tangible medium through which many people communicate, to the benefit of all.

Nels - Isn't the OP supposed to complete the survey first? Where are your manners.

Ah, and that's the point - does it really matter? The entire exercise was to get a sense of who would choose to escape the self-identification process based on their participation on the board. By default, the thread will actually steer away pure "talkers", who have a tendency to crawl under a rock and hide when the wind is strong and the Sun is bright.

If it were truly taken seriously, then there would be a description for everyone on this board. Since everyone here already knows or had alluded to what my background was, I saw it unnecessary to initiate bias in the sample until the rate of feedback confirmed my suspicions. Even so, I have an excellent idea of who wouldn't participate and why, so nothing's lost on the effort to get the choir to sing.

Mzuri --

p.s., When certain (types) of people are challenged to come out of their shell, their real motives become quite evident.

Prettybabygirl --

That's exactly the reaction I expected. Remember, its folks like yourself who are insecure in your skin. As for me, I have no problem with mine.

Prettybabygirl --

"WIMP".

"Black" blacks won't participate? Perhaps they're too insecure. Hmmm. So where is the "pretty" in your "girl", "baby"?

Have you noticed that hardly anybody participated in this long, tiresome, and tedious survery? You have a lot of nerve to try to lay the guilt trip on the black "blacks" when you yourself didn't care to fill it out. And you created this bullshit.

BB123 --

Like I said before, this thread's objective was to see which class of this board's participants wouldn't step forward, and the response received was quite predictable.

It's amazing how people who are insecure about their (real) appearance or perception react, and your dumb behind responded as anticipated. Black may be beautiful, but judging by the predictable response, you're only fooling yourselves. Take your sorry doo-doo brown chocolate ass and go find a hot afternoon Sun to melt under.

Thanks for proving my point, again.

Oh right, I'm so insecure about myself for not filling out a pointless survey. *snort*

"Oh right, I'm so insecure about myself for not filling out a pointless survey."

If you're not comfortable about how you "look" and/or are "perceived", then that's your problem.

p.s., No one ever said it was intended to be filled out. It was merely a test which has in fact proved my point, as previously stated. Trying to "explain it away" won't help you either.
