Destiny’s Child alum Kelly Rowland has announced that she is pregnant. In an interview with AMG music, Rowland confirmed the rumors that had been circulating and admitted that she is two months pregnant. “It was definitely a surprise!” the singer said. “It’s kind of a bittersweet feeling because I was planning to release an album next year.” Rowland said the record will be pushed back until late 2007 or early 2008. . .

im happy when any of our women are with child. how can anyone think its a bad thing or wrong to produce more of our people? kelly rowland has more than enough means to support this child. so i don't see what the problem is. and can we please stop with the she should have husband before the baby garbage. i will say many times when a woman has a child before she is married it could lead to some problems. but nobody knows what her relationship with her babys father is like. just because they are not married, does not mean they don't love each other and won't be there for each other and their baby. bravo, kelly. im so happy our people are reproducing. |

I agree with what Rachel says. Women control the entire situation. And can't nobody do anything to you unless you let them.
Z - the problem is not Kelly supposedly being pregnant. As ABM states - the problem is the example that it sets for the young impressionable minds who look up to these so-called celebrities as role models. We need role models with college educations and/or some sort of viable professional career to fall back on (can you name anyone who fits this description?), not a bunch of chicks whose only talent is singing, dancing and being promiscuous. And getting pregnant.
Your statements would lead one to believe that you think getting pregnant (or being the ejaculator) is some sort of an achievement to be proud of. You know what the achievement is? RAISING YOUR OFFSPRING SUCCESSFULLY FOR THE NEXT 20-25 YEARS. That is an accomplishment.
And another thing - she's two months pregnant? You're not even supposed to announce that until three-five months because so much can go wrong in the first term of pregnancy. That's pregnancy etiquette - but I suppose she's remiss in that area too. |

BTW, yes, usually women do wait until at least the end of the first trimester to announce it to everyone. Hell, my job didn't find out until I started showing and even then they were a little relunctant to ask, lol. |

I couldn't agree with you more. (And you continue to give nikkas hell on this subject, Rachel!).
It's AMAZING to me how Black foks REFUSE to connect all the shyt that's going down in our communities (e.g., shyt school, high dropout, unemployment & incarceration rates, etc.) to all the Out of Wedlock childrearing and fatherlessness.
We're ALREADY at the bottom of nearly every significant socio-economic catagory...then we add to the shyt parental and familial estrangements.
There's no frigginway we can effectively flaut racism and the myriad consequences of such under such disparate circumstances. Moreover, as we're supplanted by increasing numbers of newer non-Blacks Americans - Mexicans, Chinese, Indians, Arabs, etc. - who DO marry and raise families together, we'll get even DEEPER into trouble than we already are.
PS: Guess what, Black foks. The primary reason why illegally immigrated Mexicans ARE going to get amnesty is so they can, in effect, become America's new/improved Nigger. |

BTW, I have gotten thrown off of many message boards for saying just what I have said today. Black baseborn children grow up and usually produce out of wedlock just like their parents. Oh yes, other races do it too but I gives NO damn about them.
It just makes my asscheeks itch when I see some young ass heffa, clad in baby phat apparel at the mall....all of 15 years old...strolling a child that she had, by herself (or with friends), being loud, obnoxious and arrogant, like that's they way it should be.

Though the IDEAL is to be married to the man you're having a baby by.....I can certainly respect the fact that KELLY owns more than one home, can afford to feed, clothe and put her child through college and receives songwriting royalties---and isn't even 30 yet.
I had two wonderful sons by one of the greatest black men I've ever known----he asked me to marry him twice (with the proviso that I move to his country and give up my career), so I lived with him 10 years and I don't regret it.
He phones this house every night, like clockwork, to speak with his sons, and he LIVES HERE every weekend...to raise and look after his sons.
America is a society (especially "Black America") were there are sometimes a million variables.
One thing I did that my Black American mother taught us girls----I didn't have a baby until AFTER I was 25. That was her one rule.
