Why are fat women always put down when fat guys are called sexy, "big teddy bear" big guy, daddy?
I am sick of the double standard. Everyone thinks Biggie Smalls, Ruben Stoddard, even Luther at his heaviest were sexy and cool. Where are the female singers that get that kind of praise?

Because men run media. And A LOT of them are fat and want to be considered sexy and attractive.

And legend has it women are more motivated by what a man does and how much money he makes than how good he looks.

No double standard here. I hate all fat ppl equally. The reason that I hate fat ppl is because gluttony is a sin and if you can't even control yourself enough to keep from being overweight, you obviously don't have much control over anything else in your life. And all the other things I've said before. I have no use for fat ppl. Sorry fat ppl - if you're fat - that's what I think about it. Other ppl hate you too, they just won't tell you about it.

I may be in the minority here but I prefer people with a little meat on their bones. I'm a petite 5'2" 117 lbs. All my teen dating years and adult life I went after big men. I'm talking well over 6 feet. The Lennox Lewis type. I've had a thing for him for years. I don't want to keep him - just borrow him for an hour or two. Make that a weekend!

Fit, but definitely not skinny or obese, men and women look best to me. And ladies, please, please dress for your size. Ain't nuttin' worse than seeing a mobidly obese woman squeezed into tight lowriders and blubber hanging out over the waistline. Makes me hate the sight of sausages! And big, big girls - no thongs, please. That's just plain scary - they look like sling-shots. A big woman can look beautiful when properly dressed in clothes that FIT her and are designed with her ample proportions in mind.

And note that skinny does not equal healthy. There are many, many skinny people with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Plus, most people with longterm illnesses drop a significant amount of weight right before dropping dead.

Find a healthy weight for your height, frame, gender, and ethnicity (people of color tend to be naturally meatier than our white counterparts); eat a well-balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and stay active. Put the fork down and lift up a dumbbell.

Oh, and, morbidly obese men are no more appealing to me than morbidly obese women. For the record, I've never slept with a fat man - and never will - as I imagine all that gut must get in the way of things. That can't be a pleasant experience and who wants to see all that naked. Sorry Gerald Levert. Sing to me, Daddy. But keep your clothes on.

Shit, fat is fat, any Goddamn way you cut it. Unless you're born thick or have a medical condition, your mouth should be sewn shut until you breath some common sense (or cents?) into the "fact" that your fat ass will die fifteen years early of plaque in your arteries, or worse. Overall, sex doesn't matter (i.e., it's not a "male" thing), and neither does race or anything else. When you're dying on your death bed, don't look for sympathy through the prism of squandered opportunity. Stop eating that artery-clogging crap and get with the program.

p.s., I just saw a guy literally drop dead inside of an LA Fitness health club this past friday. He was "black", short, overweight with a (belly), and might not have consulted his physician before he undertook a deadly endeavor - exercise.

Wow!! Some of these statements are pretty Shallow. Yes, it's pretty much agreed that overweight people should be more conscious about their appearance, but to say you "hate fat people" is alarming. Well I guess that rules out a large portion of the black community in the eyes of some.

And what is fat anyway? If we go by various standards, a woman who stands 5'6 and 165 is considered fat by some and extremely well packaged by others so perception plays a large role in the weight game. Hell and if we go by the height and weight chart half the population of the US is overweight. Our American culture is part of the reason so many people are overweight. Advertisements, fast food, sugary snacks everywhere you turn, larger meal portions, genetically modified stock, AND YET, we bash "fat people". Ironic. That's just like demonizing the poor because of overconsumerism. We're constantly bombarded with new gadgets every other month, inticed to spend money we really don't have, and when we go into debt, there are those who will point the finger and say, "you've got to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get out of debt." It's a cruel world.

Satina- Obesity is not a matter of "perception" it's a set of health criteria that many people are rapidly reaching in the United States. I get bombarded by those same advertisements, larger meal portions, and genetically modified stock and yet I don't have my own gravitational pull. I have a pretty good understanding of what my body needs to be healthy and a lot of fat people do too....they just lack the will or discipline to stop themselves from overeating the wrong foods and start exercising.

Some of the finest, most decent and honorable foks I know are obese.

And some of biggest, nastiest scumbags I've ever had the displeasure of encountering have the physiques of demigods.

Not saying there's any correlation here. But...*shrugs*

ABM - Would you date a fat woman? Hypothetically if you weren't married. Be honest.

I probably wouldn't date a fat woman. But then, there are PLENTY of thin or even FIONE women I wouldn't date.

And I wouldn't HATE a fat person simply or even primarily because he or she is FAT.

Semperfemme you're right if we're comparing apples to apples. An obese person is just that, but I'm questioning the parameters of what is fat? Again if we go with the height and weight charts then the majority of us are "fat" -BUT, not always by appearance because some of those same people are categorized as "Thick, curvy, shapely" but not fat. And who's to say you can't be healthy with a few extra pounds on you?

If one can clearly distinguish your a$$ and hips from your stomach and back, even if you exceed the AMA's recommended Weight:Height ratio, you still may qualify as being "Thick, curvy, shapely".

I never saw so many FAT people until I came to America.

No other country has obesity out of control like the U.S., because it's so RICH.

And in the case of "BLACK FAT PEOPLE"---there is enormous unresolved depression, abuse and "invisibility" issues--not to mention breeding from slave days.

Black Americans have suffered MONUMENTAL, UNTOLD Abuse and Psychological Mistreatment for centuries---many of them come from families that MEDICATE themselves with food and eating.

If you're told you're ugly and you have no social life and you can only acknowledge JESUS and hide behind a Church....then what is there to do but eat yourself into a corner???

These people deserve understanding, love and compassion.

PUT-downs only drive and re-ignite their emotional crisis.

That's nice what you're saying about the FAT ppl Kola, but it's not going to change anyone's mind. FAT ppl are disgusting. And I'm talking about the tubs-of-lard FAT ppl - you know who you are. They always act like they're going to faint if they don't get some food in their mouth this minute. Like they are going to die if they miss one friggen meal.

We've discussed FAT ppl here before and most ppl do not like FATTIES. All those excuses you're making for them are just that - excuses. And it's funny how they're all fat because they have metabolism or thyroid problems. I'm not buying it and if y'all want to rag on me for being open and honest about my feelings, go for it.

"And what is fat anyway? If we go by various standards, a woman who stands 5'6 and 165"

That is not even anywhere near fat.

I'm 5'8 and weigh 165 lbs, with a small waist, too.

Fat/Obese is 5'6 and 280. That's the kind of obesity their discussing.
