Before anyone says, "Troy where the heck have you been"; I'll admit I don't watch much TV. However I'm surprised I completely missed this program. I've never heard of it. Sounds interesting in a Watermellon Man sort of way...

Black and White Families Swap Skin Color to See How the Other Half Lives

Anyone see this program? What do you think

I haven't watched the show but after viewing those photos, it's amazing how alike we really are. It makes one wonder for a second what the controversy is all about.

This will probably sound bad; but, it was not much of stretch to make the Black father, Brian Sparks (interviewed here: http://www.aalbc.com/reviews/brian_sparks.htm) look white.

I wonder if they padded the posteriers of the Wurgels ladies?

On a serious note: it so screwed up that:

"before venturing into the world as a brother, boning up on Ebonics, learning how to shake hands, putting a swerve into his stride, and even adding the N-word to his lexicon."

would be percieved as a way to come across as Black.

I wonder if the Black son, now had to begin to focus on his studies so that he could now come across as white...

LOL

I've seen portions of the show and I didn't know that all you have to do is paint a Caucasion brown to make him Black.

I think the program is heavily scripted. No way in hell any of the participants can pass for either race--they look like freaks. The white guy who was supposed to be Black instead looked like a darkskinned Indian or some other non Black ethnicity.

Troy,

I saw all of the episodes of Black.White. It was at times interesting to see, though not especially enlightening.

Perhaps the thing I found most interesting was the White people appeared more Black than did the Black people appear White. (The White daughter looked BETTER as a Black girl than she did a White girl.)

You can't disguise African eyes, noses, lips and cadences behind a straight-haired wig and pink skincoloring.

Hello Troy - Oprah had the families on as guests and she aired several clips from the program. The families discussed each other's portrayals, how they were treated by outsiders and how the husbands disliked one another. Just enough information for me to decide I didn't need to watch the series - plus I don't need white ppl to tell me about being Black. I don't think you missed much of anything but the show will probably air as re-runs.

Abm it is funny how people feel the white girl looked better with Black skin. Perhaos it explains why white people are always trying to get tanned and Black people straigten their hair. Perhaps that is why men of all colors feel women who have characteristics of more that one, so called race, are most attractive...

Mzuri, fundamentally I'm with you. Nonetheless I'll look up when it airs an tape it and view it like the proverbial car wreck

Brownbeauty123 agreed about the white adults they looked grotesque -- 'cept the girl she was cute (smile).

Tonya, yes we are all very much alike.
