Don't oversimplify things.
Sure a man might really appreciate a woman having a great a$$. But there are PLENTY of lonely, dateless women who have a$$e$ similar to those of Buffy the Body.
A woman having a great a$$ might momentarily catch a man's eye and attention. But that don't mean dude will be taking her to meet his momma.
Halle Berry's is (to me, at least) a mildly pretty and shapely biracial woman who smartly navigated the Hollywood Ratrace to reach a position of fame/fortune. You should NOT put much stock into how men appear to respond to her. Because I'll bet if she were NOT a movie star, Berry would NOT have men going gaga over her. |

Probably not. I'm obsessed. I can’t help it. And all of my black male friends are also. But the white males (as a group) are not. My best friend is a fanatical anal-booty-ologist. He is a medical doctor and most of his professional associates are white males. They think that he is sick for being obsessed with shapely protruding big butts. I have personally talked to them (white guys) and we have had very heated (but friendly) debates about the merits and rewards of a voluptuous derriere. They don’t get it. They prefer a small to medium, moderate to outright flat butts. There is no right or wrong –good or bad answer. It’s personal preference.. Just as the average woman prefers and is attracted to men who are tall with somewhat lean muscular physiques (gotta have a six pack). Why is the standard not pudgy exceptionally short men with buck teeth? Why not? Is such a man incapable of loving and respecting a woman any less than a tall hunky Adonis? There is no scientific evidence to support such a claim but nevertheless when it comes to preference, women as a group, are going to give the tall muscular Terrell Owens naughty boy type the nod over the Woody Allen guy. Why?
What is the obsession?
Hmmmm…good question. I have no real answer other than it may be cultural. Latinos, Italian and Armenian men are also lovers of big booties. It’s not just a black man thang although brothers (as a group) probably have taken the obsession and preoccupation to a higher level. Black men are very vocal and animated about women with parabola shaped booties. There is the cynical joke about the black mans kryptonite being a thick white woman –I say it’s the small waists, wide hips and a basketball shaped booties across the board (race is irrelevant).
White women take a pounding from white men for having a big butts. They are under intense pressure from white men to loose weight and reduce the size of a more than a handful booty. I’ve seen white women in the gym wearing butt capes (sweat shirts tied around their waists to cover their butts) a lot in gyms. Why? Because they are ashamed of what they feel (by white standards) is a big butt. I recall seeing two young white women in the gym who had great diamond shaped calves, full rounded thick thighs and Level Three Brazilian quality butts, hiding their assets. When I confronted them about the purpose of the butt capes, they tap danced and fluttered about the purpose of the sweat shirts tied around their wasit. Then they admitted they were attempting to hide their butts because they were ashamed. Why? They said said their butts were too big! I shook my head and told them they needed to start dating brothers who would show them some appreciation for their exception body parts. They both laughed and said, “We know that. Black guys come up to us all the time!”. Done deal.
I guess that's just the way it is. I don’t think it is genetic. As I suggested, perhaps it’s cultural. I just know what I am attracted to and what motivates me. People have very little control over what they are attracted to. And I don’t feel an individuals personal taste should be a subject of ridicule unless there is a criminal or pathological element present (e.g. being sexually attracted to small children). I know there are those who disagree and feel that people should date or being attracted to what they feel are appropriate standards. I don’t buy that. You’re attracted to whatever you’re attracted to. Big butts just happens to be a consensus for black men.

I think Abm answered your question, Brownbeauty. I also happen to agree with him. Though I'm definitely not a man, I happen to think that a shapely butt, and a shapely body in general, is much more feminine in appearance than being flat everywhere. It's womanly and sexy to have curves! However, I also think a booty that is in proportion to the rest of a womans body looks better than a booty that is not. For example, Buffy has a booty, but it, in my opinion, is way out of proportion. It's like bigger than her head (especially in that last pic on the bottom right). And if she ever makes the decision to have children, she better really watch her diet and exercise or that booty will be a daymn mess...and down to the back of her knees.

My2cents:
Bright light skin is a “cultural thing” for black men, as well. And like guns, violence and “thug life,” there are some cultural things that ought not to go unchallenged. It is up to each culture to determine which “cultural things” are benign and/or productive; which are destructive and/or threatens its survival; and then influence all that has been decided (un)acceptable or beneficial for the culture. That’s how it's done in America. It is how it's done worldwide. |

I disagree. But I do agree that, on average, white women don't consider "big butts" to be attractive. Some of the white women I work-out around are constantly trying to minimize their backend. It's hysterical!

When 'Baby got Back' came out, I was surprised to see heavy seat white women at a marina party (I think we were the only black ppl there) embracing the song as liberation of there big bottoms (regardless of the shape).
Culturally, my mom's side of my family is booty obsessed. Result - lots of big bootied children and grandchildren. The obsession is not confined to our men. I'm not saying I'm obsessed, but to me a nice behind on a man says virility. Obviously, a lot of white women agree. My son actually had a white girl walk up behind him at a party, grab his a$$ and make some remark to her girlfriend. |

The thing that attracts so many Black guys to Buffy is that she's attainable. She's not that pretty--actually she's quite ugly, with a round the way girl appeal. Men feel like they can approach her without being rejected.
The first time I saw her I couldn't believe how bottom heavy she was, yet still so toned and thin at the top. Then I saw candids of her REAL body, and she looks disgusting. She had lovehandles, and excessive cellulite all on her thighs, just nasty. She's much thicker, and rounder in person. Those photos of her are airbrushed to death.
I was unaware of Black men's fascination with big asses until I made male friends. And he talks about it TOO much. If he encounters a black woman who is thin, he tries to "mold" her into his "ideal" woman by encouraging her to eat more and do squats and lunges for a bigger booty. He even started to make my friend feel insecure about her body because he ridiculed how thin she was, which was totally natural for her, by constantly telling her she was a lollipop and had no ass. She had a booty, it just wasn't big enough to his standards.
And of course, he tried to do the same to me. I was surprised that he would have the audacity to tell me to gain weight, I've never been a real skinny girl I'm 5'8 and weigh 165, and have hips, thighs, and some butt. My weight is evenly distributed, so I look much thinner than what I weigh. So I just came to the conclusion that he likes really really thick, and short women who tend to have the bigger butts. |

I mean. I had a hard time attracting boys with my flat ass too (thank god I date men now and not boys). But I never wished that black men preferred my physique, because I know most black women aren't shaped like me. Why would I want black men to be attracted to something that most black women aren't? My point was that my friend had a habit of making women feel insecure about their body if they didn't fit his ideal figure. He can like whatever he wants, but he shouldn't ridicule another woman's shape because her butt isn't big enough to his standards. |

He's not her boyfriend, they're just friends. We all are.
He targets all skinny (Black) women-- at school, church, work, and will constantly harass them about how "bony" and "bootiless" they are. Sometimes comparing them to vuluptous females (Buffy the Body) and other video models in a way to encourage them to eat more and fill out.

I'm not surprised about the "unbrushed" Buffy. Not at all. Women who have reaaaally big asses usually have tons of strech marks and cellulite, too - even on their thighs. And there is a huge difference between a shapely butt and an out-of-control, nasty assssssss.
In regards to your "friend", if you truly care about him, share how you feel about how he tries to "mold" the women he dates - share with him how that could be a true turn-off! Any man trying to "mold" any woman for any reason, is a turn-off. And vice-versa! Now, I don't find anything wrong with couples who work-out together and prepare/eat-out nice, delicious meals and occasional treats - because I think it's healthy to enjoy it all in moderation. But one partner imposing on another for self-serving purposes, is wrong!
And about your height/weight, it sounds very healthy! And I don't care what anyone says or feels, it's far better to be thinner (within reason) than it is to be heavier and too "thick".

Buffy's out of proportion big behind looks very pornographic. I question if it's even real since butt augumentation is gaining popularity and is probably a common trend among pinup girls.
Usually women with behind's that big are much rounder and fuller all over. It's unusual for someone to be 5'7 154 lbs, with such a large behind like hers. That's quite slim for someone that height. I assume those stats are way off. She's probably much shorter, too.

That radio interview is hilarious. But I think that if Buffy had treated the radio interview as a business appointment, as opposed to going there after working out at the gym, that whole scene could have been avoided. Who works out and then goes to an appointment. Wouldn't you want to be showered and dressed (hair and makeup) before doing any type of interview. Anyway, I'm glad she stood her ground and cussed the DJ out. He had no business addressing her the way he did, whether she was funky or not. LOL! |
