• Black men blame themselves for their failures MORE than they blame other people and factors for such. Black men are even MORE likely to blame themselves for their own failures than are WHITE MEN to blame themselves for such.
• They concede they should focus more bolstering their educations.
• They view being successful on their jobs as their numero uno objective and responsibility (much more so than do White men).
• Better educated, more affluent Black men are MORE likely to be harassed by police than their poorer, less educated peers.
• Black men are very wary of myriad issues and problems (with racism, crime, AIDS, etc.) yet are hopeful of their lives and futures.

Pretty good list and #4 is something I have been saying for years but nobody will listen.
The brother who is a bum, who is dirty, who is standing around with his pants hanging down is no threat. They know what to do for him, often with full approval of other blacks.
That black man with the suit and briefcase he is the threat.

You obviously think that the brother who is a "bum who is dirty, who is standing around with his pants hanging down" IS a threat, chrishayden, That's why you previous admitted to being anxious and afraid of gettin your assed kicked when you venture into the mean streets of the ghetto on your mission to "spread love". Furthermore, you have dismissed the upwardly-mobile, middle-class black man as a clueless suck-up. Now, suddenly you've done an about-face and want to take credit for what is obvious to any perceptive observer. Me, I've always claimed that blackness is not a monolithic state of being. There is an element of diversity among people of color. This article resonates with the idea, that the black man is a paradox who is what he is. |

It was just a couple of weeks ago, chrishayden, that you subjected us to an account of your trek through the St. Louis ghetto during which time you had your faith restored because a drunk woman was polite to you and none of the brothas hangin on the corner accosted you, proving that all of your fears were unjustified and that as a disciple of MLK, it was safe to continue your mission to bring love to the down-trodden. And you regularly bash middle class blacks who you claim are deluded into thinking that they are immune to racism. How quickly we forget. |
