I just cain't resist a little thread diggin'.


Let's take race out of the equation for a moment.

All of the people mentioned in this thread that were successful despite poor english worked in specialized fields considered to necessary or desirable to our lives. Doctors make us well, basketball players entertain us, garbage men pick up garbage, police get shot at and politicians know the language or lying and doublespeak better than anyone else. None of these people need to speak proper english.

If you don't have a special skill you gotta' have somethin' else to back you up. I work in corporate America and there is no one here who doesn't speak something very much akin to proper english. There are some accents to be sure, but no ghetto, white trash, surfer or hippy talk in these halls.

My parents raised me to speak porperly and I will always be what my parents raised me to.

Here's a simple fact:

Everyone learns the language of the conqueror. Despite what immigrants are doing in the US the rest of the world pays big bucks to learn to speak proper english.
