Important question: How do we show support for this woman other than continue the arguing on these threads? What action should we take?

Start an online petition?

Boycott Duke University.

Write an editorial in the local newspaper?

Got any ideas?

Unless you are willing to move there and offer this woman money and support or offer a place to hide out out of state while this stuff develops you can't do a damn thing for her long range.

First of all you don't even know what she wants to do. Suppose she decides it ain't worth it? Are you going to make her do it? You are going to do a bunch of stuff that she and her family are going to be down there paying for while you are sitting around wherever you live congratulating yourself because you are such a good joe.

An online petition--right. The rich white men are going to throw their sons in because some Negroes are petitioning on the internet.

Boycott Duke University--what are you going to do? Not buy any of their sweatshirts?

You can write an editorial in your local newspaper--see #1 above. You don't mean spit unless you live in the state of North Carolina.

Stay the hell out of it. The more pressure you try to put on them the more they will put on her.

I wouldn't be surprised if they looked up one day and she had fled the state.

On further reflection you can get hold of her attorney or the Prosecutor and ask them what you can do to help--probably send money. You do not want to do anything to screw up this case.

The Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow/Push Coalition plans to give a college scholarship to the woman who accused Duke University lacrosse players of raping her, the Associated Press reported. Jackson said that the group will pay for the woman’s college expenses regardless of the outcome of the investigation in the case. Since DNA evidence has failed to implicate any of the lacrosse players, who have maintained their innocence, criticism of the woman has grown. Many others, however, say that regardless of the legal outcome of the case, the conduct of the lacrosse players has raised troubling questions. The woman, who was hired to perform as an exotic dancer at a party of lacrosse players, was using income from the performance to pay for tuition at North Carolina Central University.

jesse jackson's p.u.s.h organization giving a handout/scholarship to a 27 year old woman who takes her clothes off for money. jesse's organization will give her this handout/scholarship "regardless" of the outcome of the investigation. great. so even if she is lying and nothing happened. she still gets a handout for doing nothing more than taking her clothes off for money. great message this sends. i thought a "scholarship" was awarded to people for actual "scholarship". but according to jesse and his "organization", a scholarship should be awarded for taking your clothes off for drunkin white men. im sure there are some black female college students busting their ass, by working, to get through college. but jesse and his "organization" choose to give a handout to this piece of garbage for stripping. maybe jesse should tell all little black girls,"when you get older, you should take yout clothes off for drunkin white men, and we will give you a "scholarship" also. how pathetic.
