Did you hear the news about Russell and Kimora Lee Simmons separating? It's just another in a long string of break-ups lately (Eddie Murphy and his wife, Babyface and his wife, Terri McMillan and her husband, etc). Can anyone stay together these days?

Russell Simmons, Kimora Lee Announce Split
NEW YORK - The marriage of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and his model-turned-entrepreneur wife, Kimora Lee, has come to an end.
In a statement provided to The Associated Press on Friday, Simmons announced the pair had decided to break up after seven years of marriage. Rumors had swirled for the past week that a split was imminent. The couple have two young daughters.
"Kimora and I will remain committed parents and caring friends with great love and admiration for each other," Simmons said. "We will also continue to work side by side on a daily basis as partners in all of our businesses."
Simmons is head of Rush Communications, but is perhaps better known as the co-founder of Def Jam Records and for his Phat Farm clothing line. In recent years, he has become more involved in politics, and helped to create the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network.
Over the years, Kimora Lee Simmons has become almost as famous as her husband, thanks to her successful Baby Phat clothing line and her glamorous diva persona, which has been documented in numerous magazine spreads.
Although the pair have appeared at public events together in recent weeks, the statement said they had been separated for "some time," even though they were still living together.

And for the most part, he has strong African features. That heavy bottom lip is just one of many. To me, the shade of one's skin tone does not always determine how Black someone is.

Russel Simmons was featured on his brother's reality show 'Run's House' and...
he's quite an asshole with a major power trip. It sucks that a man of his prestige overuses curse words while engaging in relatively normal, and non hostile conversations. I have nothing against ppl who curse..but you have to know when & how to use them. And since he's so condescending with it, it kinda throws you off.
I remember reading that Kimora was the top 4 buyers of Louis Vuoitton in the USA...which is rather odd and hypocritcal since she and her husband (soon to be ex) practice Buddism. And Kimora makes it no secret that she is very materialistic & loves money. Normally I wouldn't care if it weren't for Russell trying to act so solemn and earthly with a loudmouth cactus face goldigger wife.

Russell has no respect for women at all. Several years back, he was on some documentary discussing when he first spotted Kimora. She was on the runway, and he was fascinated by her exotic beauty. And refered to her as being a 'bad Bitch'...a 'classy sexy beautiful bitch' he further commented.
And if anyone saw Vh1's 'Inside Out' which showed footage of the ex couple's life--I noticed during the modeling auditions Russell did not try to conceal his rooving eye for the young, skinny, multiracial models. Kimora caught him salivating & of course her loudmouth made it clear to him that she noticed this. The situation didn't get blown out of proportion though, mainly because the cameras were present. |

Every time I've seen Russell Simmons he looks rather yellow. Maybe after vacationing he's a bit more brown. His features aren't African looking (to me).
I'm just pointing out Tonya's hypocrisy. She has her own self-serving guidelines as to who is black and who isn't. And if we were discussing a light-skin ("yellow") woman, she'd be the first one screamin' about how the "bitch" isn't "authentic".

Vasi doesn't look African to me.
She looks like a multi-racial person with some black blood. She's more mixed than a Mulatto (Half-Caste), so she doesn't look African.

A few years back Russell was on Tavis Smiley's show. I thought they were going to come to blows. Apparently Russell thought he was just going to plug his latest product and make small talk, but why he thought Tavis would let him get away with that shows how unintelligent he really is about blackness. It seems to me that a man who makes his living off of his people by promoting afrocentric products and culture could marry a woman who at least looks black. BTW, I've seen Kimora's mother and she is 100 percent Asian. |
