Why Black Men Love White Women by Rajen Persaud is a much needed read.
I read it last night.
First off, Moonsigns, you were dead wrong.... It's a book written by a black man for black people.... "It's a black thing--you wouldn't understand"....
It's the second half of the bible: Marita Golden's Don't Play In the Sun, and much, much more. It's VERY Kolaesque... put Kola in a pair of Dockers and there's your book, lol.
But it's composed from a young African American man's perspective, a slightly older brother, a favorite cousin, a good friend, ect., and, most importantly, it's written to both a black male and black female audience.
As Oprah says, I had a light bulb moment!! ...For the first time, I began to see "the struggle" from both realities, simultaneously. Most books tell either/or; it's either his story or her story or sometimes it's their story told separately. But this book tells all stories in a sequence so closely chained and relative, you can't help but get the whole picture; and when that happens you're like: what the fuck are we fighting each other for??? ..we are being sooooo played. I said to myself, I will NEVER call a brotha out of his name again (unless he gets the fuck on my nerves, lol); and after reading this book, I'm sure most brothas feel the same. It isn't Hughes, Wright, Baraka, or Baldwin but it's undoubtedly one of the most important books that this black male/ black female war generation will read in its lifetime. It's a much needed read.

Another thing...
although the title of the book is "Why Black Men Love White Women," more than anything else, the book ironically explains why black men and women hate themselves and each other.... Which leads to what's written in the title but doesn't spend any real time focusing on white women or BM/WW relationships. Contrary to what has been said/written, it's not a "I hate interracial relationships" book a all. I'm not sure if it was done for irony, but the title is simply misleading--and that's probably not good because the title is why I hesitated before purchasing it: (I couldn't care less about IR relationships)....

You are so much welcome. I read the book and the reviews from Amazon. Some of them were on the defensive side because they didn't like what the brother has said about the racism and the racial/gender/class dynamics of human relationships. I wish I could write to those people. Then again, they have very closed minds on plenty of issues facing society, nation, and the world.

Quite the contrary, they don’t “hate” each other at all. Only an “infirm” mind derelict with a shallow heart would make such a fractious and purulent statement. I.e., that of a moron.
Black men "love" white women?
Perhaps it’s because of the perceived "attitude", "pursed lips", "glance at the sidewalk or wall when walking by" (e.g., avoidance of (eye) contact, etc.), and all of the other petty, demeaning, childish and irritating "shit" that has been said to precede the impending presence of "a" black woman. Even the “ugliest” and the most “unintelligent” and “uncouth” and “unaccomplished” of black women frequently come off as snobbish and snotty to many “black” men, no matter their (i.e., “black” men) phenotype, socioeconomic status, heritage and the like.
White women increasingly succeed in garnering the attention and affection of black men because they don’t approach “the” prospective encounter with (black men) in an adversarial fashion that is rife with friction. White women (don’t) appear to be interested in “challenging” black men on (literally) every first contact. Instead, they listen intently but un-contentiously, absorb the exchange, and are less presumptuous than black women are. Accordingly, black men perceive this approach as non-threatening and very receptive to unbiased dialogue, and/or perhaps more.
Surprising enough, (most) black men by far are “not” turned off by black women because they are “black” in (any) context, but because their (black women’s) motives appear wrought with suspicion, regardless of the black male intention. As long as black women continue to approach virtually every encounter they have (with “black” men) with indifference, hostility, greed and suspicion in mind (to say the least), they will continue to suffer from the growing slight of the white female encroachment.

Nels....have you ever had someone tell you your mouth is moving, but you ain't saying nothing?
Just curious.
You have a large percentage of black women in this country WAITING for marriage to black men only, having children with black men who abandon them (and they're still hoping he comes back), and not dating other men because they want a black knight instead of other men. Black women can "catch" any race of men, and many of them take that option. But the VAST MAJORITY of black women are waiting for a BLACK AMERICAN man, and will get an attitude with anyone who suggests they date someone else.
So, I don't know where the hell you're hanging out where the majority of the women are snotty snobs, and only the white women are attentive to black men, but maybe you should get out a little more (and further out) than you do.
Also, more and more African (and Asian) men are marrying Black american women. It's interesting that they don't seem to find these same "bitches" that are so numerous in your community. |

Nels, until they find words better than hatred and insanity to describe it, I'll just have to be a moron. As for what you said throughout the rest of your post... coincidently... much of it has been explored by this author in this his book.... Only he says it in a way that women can digest.. not with the apparent bitterness you discharge. He gets women to understand what you guys have been trying to get us to hear for the longest, but he does it with class and clarity. He also does the same for our (black women's) issues. |

What bm don’t realize when they bash bw is that whatever is wrong with bw is a direct reflection of the failure and negligence of bm. Who instead of being the fathers, husbands, supports and lovers of their own women side with their enemies and act as the users, critics and abandoners. Well, I've seen enough bm/ww relationships up close to know that wm certainly do NOT treat bm better then bw do. That's just something they want us to believe to justify their inexcusable enchantment with those self worshiping users. I've heard plenty of wm brag and show off to everyone the way bm grovel and beg them even when they aren't interested. They are the ones who are responsible for countless black men being hung and imprisoned in the past just for looking at them the wrong way, and let them be on a jury for a black man being accused of anything and they will find him guilty. Yeah, they love bm all right, as long as it serves their ego and interests. I've also noticed when bm are with wm they suddenly don't mind being generous and taking care of HER OR her kids. But when he's with a bw he's usually stingy, down on his luck, and trying to live off of her. |

You whine endlessly about wanting to find that black man of your dreams, and more often than not he turns out to be a monster(eg., thug, playa, or otherwise wealthy or powerful). They're not whining anymore. Generation X is starting to date elsewhere, mainly Africans and Asians. There are easily (from what I can see with my eye, I don't have statistics) more Asian man/Black woman pairings in Atlanta than other interracial pairings.
It's people in my mother's generation (50 and up) who won't look elsewhere. My mother's been single for 28 years. ONLY Asian and white men have been interested in her in the last 15 years, but she grew up during Jim Crow era, and believes she should date a black man. |

I have found myself sickened by the comments Schakspir has been writing and I now firmly agree that he and Nels, Doberman do indeed hate black women. However, I believe Schakspir is the novelist P. Lewis and is not Cynique or Moonsigns. Apparently Ms. A_Womon has not been keeping up with the board. How curious that the two people who usually are the most levelheaded are being blamed for these bouts of retarded hatred of black females.

And I guess that busy body a-woman thinks Cynique and Enchanted are the same person because we are both people who aren't die-hard fans of Kola. And the exchanges in this thread are classic examples as to why black men and black women don't get along. They are victims of each other because there is a lack of communication between them. |

FYI, I prefer black women or other non-white women WHO ARE EMOTIONALLY MATURE, WITH BRAINS, are NOT LOADED DOWN WITH EXCESS EMOTIONAL BAGGAGE, and are independent-minded without being SELFISH and EGOCENTRIC. I could care less about the woman's color.

While I do find Kola Boof and her clones disgusting opportunists, I cannot excuse your comments Schakspir. Any woman can read between the lines and its clear that you despise black women and hate women in general. My reading of Moonsigns is that she is a supporter of black women's freedom and is very understanding about them. Your generalizations and attacks on black females are directed at all of us because you don't have respect for women. Your term "loudmouthed" speaks volumes. While I've seen many women here who have pain or who want their grievances to be heard, I have not seen any female versions of a male jerk. You almost remind me of my uncle who used to beat up his wife and make her sons call her the "B" word as he beat her. I loathe Kola Boof, but I fear you much more.

When I smell bullshit, I'm going to call it out, and not pretend that it isn't there. You say you "fear" me. What do you fear--that I would hack your head off with a machete? Believe it or not, I am quite understanding of black women, too, which is why I will not make excuses for them. I don't think that being black or female excuses everything. It's too late in the historical game. There are too many black people making excuses for their ridiculous behavior, especially nowadays, and we have gotten to the point where we do not take criticism well from each other anymore. Look at KRS-1 jumping up in the face of Adisa Banjoko at Stanford. Was that shit really called for? Just by threatening Adisa B. with an asskicking, he discredited himself and everything he supposedly stood for.
If you deduce from these posts that I am disgusted in some way, then, hell yes, I am. I am tired of all this idiotic infighting and squabbling among Afro-Americans, and usually about things which should go on the back burner right now. Not to mention all this stupid thug shit. Which brings me back to what I've been saying earlier on some posts: why on earth do so many black women want them, when they only beat the crap out of them or psychologically abuse them in some fashion?

First of all Enchanted Kola Boof does not exploit anyone. She tells it like it is. The only people who have a real problem with her are the ones who see these things happening in our community and don't want to address it. The real exploiters are the ones who take every opportunity to bash her, because they know that what she says is true they just don't want to face reality, and they are trying to keep others from doing the same.
I myself am an African American and I detest our culture. I am not a self-hating black person I just hate what we have become. We are a bunch of selfish, self-hating, egotistical niggers. And I am not afraid to say so. Also, Kola Boof is not the only person with these same feelings there are many black American scholars who feel the same way. The fact that it is now coming from a black woman's mouth(and the fact that she is not American) is what everyone has a real problem with.
Now Bill Cosby said the same thing that Kola Boof has been saying for a long time, but when Bill Cosby said it he got a standing ovation from the black community. Why is that? |

Then again Cynique, you and Kola have a personal history. My dislike of Kola is more detached. Therefore I don't cotton to any and everyone who despises Kola. For me, it's about Kola's lies, her opportunism, her entire false image. She's trying to make money from black women's pain and she uses the "n" word far too much to care anything about the black community or African Americans. This is why I believe you and I are not vibing on this particular thread because you have a personal history with Kola, whereas I don't really know her. I've always agreed with you Cynique and I love Babygirl, because she usually says what I'm thinking. I think Moonsigns is very intelligent and she's usually quite fair. Well Enchanted what about the millions of black men who use the "n" word just to say Hello to one another, and care nothing about the black community? When Kola uses the "n" word she is not doing it just to make idle conversation she is doing to make a point.
Also, how can Kola exploit black woman when they are already being exploited? Kola is stating the issues concerning black women, and coming up with a solution. And if you ask me if a black woman goes out and buys Kola's book that is money "well spent" as opposed to the millions of black girls who go out and buy the lastest 50 cent c.d. |

First off, Moonsigns, you were dead wrong.... It's a book written by a black man for black people.... "It's a black thing--you wouldn't understand"....
It's the second half of the bible: Marita Golden's Don't Play In the Sun, and much, much more. It's VERY Kolaesque... put Kola in a pair of Dockers and there's your book, lol.
But it's composed from a young African American man's perspective, a slightly older brother, a favorite cousin, a good friend, ect., and, most importantly, it's written to both a black male and black female audience.
As Oprah says, I had a light bulb moment!! ...For the first time, I began to see "the struggle" from both realities, simultaneously. Most books tell either/or; it's either his story or her story or sometimes it's their story told separately. But this book tells all stories in a sequence so closely chained and relative, you can't help but get the whole picture; and when that happens you're like: what the fuck are we fighting each other for??? ..we are being sooooo played. I said to myself, I will NEVER call a brotha out of his name again (unless he gets the fuck on my nerves, lol); and after reading this book, I'm sure most brothas feel the same. It isn't Hughes, Wright, Baraka, or Baldwin but it's undoubtedly one of the most important books that this black male/ black female war generation will read in its lifetime. It's a much needed read.

Another thing...
although the title of the book is "Why Black Men Love White Women," more than anything else, the book ironically explains why black men and women hate themselves and each other.... Which leads to what's written in the title but doesn't spend any real time focusing on white women or BM/WW relationships. Contrary to what has been said/written, it's not a "I hate interracial relationships" book a all. I'm not sure if it was done for irony, but the title is simply misleading--and that's probably not good because the title is why I hesitated before purchasing it: (I couldn't care less about IR relationships)....

I should have known better, especially with me being so fond of old sayings. “Be careful what you wish for, you might get it.” I love well written books about off-the-wall characters. To a certain degree, I got that exact thing in Nate, the latest novel by P. Lewis. The title character is interesting, but not enough to endear him to me. While Lewis made some good points, had a few nice plot twists, I have to admit that if I had not committed myself to finishing this book, I would have tossed it on the reject pile without a second thought.
Nate James Morris is a young man in flux. Dissatisfied with attending one of the nation’s leading black colleges; he’s ready to chuck his bachelor degree in Art and move to New York to get his career as an illustrator started. After having a conversation with one of his friends, Nate, impulsively, enlists and becomes a Marine. So starts the beginning of Nate’s life of misadventures. Throughout his story of physical assaults, kidnapping, sexual escapades, college politics and family drama; Nate has two constants in his life. He can count on being misunderstood, and the presence of his nemesis/friend, a sociopath psychotic Guy Sellers. Nate Morris’s life is a mess, and as far as I’m concern, he’s more than wallow in it, as long as he doesn’t get any of it on me.
Nate, the novel, is a big lesson in patience. I was more than a little fed up with it. After reading nearly 400 pages of Nate’s life story, I can’t say that I really know Nate Morris. There is one thing that I do know about him; he gets on my nerves.
The novel would not have been so bad if I did not get to read so much about Nate, the character. Nate is an intelligent submissive wimp. Things happened to Nate and he just went along with it; definitely not the type of person or character I like spending a lot of time with. Lewis had Nate going through some traumatic stuff. At the beginning of each of these episodes, I kept the hope that Nate would get a backbone and put his foot in somebody’s butt. Humph, I wish. It would have made for a more interesting read if he had.
The novel was not badly written. Truthfully, Lewis is a good writer, but the novel suffered because Lewis did not advance the story or its themes. Lewis kept re-plowing the same ground. I ain’t trying to hear all the same crap over and over again. Believe me; I’m smart enough to catch the point the first time it comes around. For instance, in the novel, Nate was in the military twice and college three times. The storyline went like: Nate is in college, then he goes to the military, then he goes back college, only to be in the military again, and oh here’s a big surprise, Nate winds up in college AGAIN. Hell, Stevie Wonder could see this pattern from over yonder, through thickets, woods, and corn fields.
Nate, the character and the novel, are tedious. The main problem with the character and the novel is that Nate took himself way too seriously and had no sense of humor. Nate lacks likeability. With any novel, especially one that is over 400 pages, I need to like the characters or at least find them interesting. Nate is used dishwater begging to go down the drain.

Growing Up in the 80's
NATE by P. Lewis is a rocky expedition into the tumultuous, rarely sensible life of a young, African-American male. Being a teenager is already difficult, but when you add race wars, political unrest, warfare, and family drama (among other things) to an already mutable physicality, you’re bound to have a teenager on the edge. It is within this context that readers are introduced to the main character, Nathan James Morris.
College, the U.S. Marine Corps, a U.S. Embassy, family...none of these had the capability to hold Nate still. He ran, he fought, he struggled to hold his own in a world that wanted nothing more than to keep him down. Even the “normal” traps (women, drugs, alcohol) out there to waylay people didn’t get the best of him. He survived, although his manner of survival will upset you, make you sick, make you want to cry for him, or make you shake your fists at him. Sometimes, Nate's actions make it is easier to understand why the other characters treat him the way they do.
P. Lewis has composed a novel that consists of an excellent narrative voice and a deep look into many national and international social ills. Although full of foul language, I enjoyed “hearing” Nate speaking to me, telling me of all the things he was going through. His stories are interesting, the characters are very colorful and multi-dimensional, and the places he goes and the things he sees are mind-blowing; however the biggest problem with the book, the reason why it’s only an average 3 instead of a 5, is lack of a driving plot. There is no storyline, no reason to turn the page, no explanation for why P. Lewis chooses to have Nate say or do what he does at that time, and too much “blah blah” between the things readers will enjoy reading. For that reason, it was very difficult to get through this book, even though the stories were interesting. Also, there is no concept of time. Readers have no real idea how much time has passed between the chapters or events. Aside from that, NATE proves to be full of adventure and travel, sex and drugs, war and education, and many other things young adults faced growing up in the 80’s.

Williams or Darius James or Jerome Klinkowitz. I have genuine credentials and can flash them WHEN ASKED FOR, whereas all of Kola's shit is totally made up. Like I said, Kola can scream to the rooftops about how bad P. Lewis's shit is--and that is just a matter of opinion, anyway--but the proof is in the pudding. After all, cunt-Kola would not DARE lay down our writing samples side by side and show for the world to see just who the better writer is, now, would she?

Sorry, forget to tell you:
Analise.
You want one HALF ground tablespoon of Analise as well as a tablespoon of Vermouth in your gravy sauce.
Talk about SMOOTH, well colored very delicious gravy that's easy on the digestive system. I like a salty tasting gravy, but the Analise gives it a whole other taste. DELISH!
Another secret is to fry your pork chops "rare" (leaving them tender) and then bake them another 15 minutes to get the red out....
It's hard to "TELL" it. And I can't demonstrate over the internet, but nothing warms a man to his toes like good succulent tender Smothered Pork Chops.
Of course, these tonight are for my sons.

If you want to know why SOME Black men date white women, you might want to check out the message board that published a detailed "Gallery of Sellout Black Women." Interestingly, most of the women who are listed are noted authors and the commentary is quite pointed.
When you check out this 'rogues' gallery' of Black female "intelletual leadership," you might understand better why Black men are looking elsewhere.

Hmmmm... If it weren't for the freedom of choice to interbreed, then most of the people on this board probably wouldn't be trash-talking each other into intellectual obscurity. And...if you yourself are not the product of interbreeding, then don't bitch-out those who are. That same argument is quite likely what got your blood pressure up in the first place. I read that list and found most of its content to be highly exaggerated. Very comical.
And what makes non black women, particularly white, potentially better mates? Can you tell me what they do so different? Overall, they're just perfect, and never do anything wrong, AT ALL, to you??
