Hello to everyone on the boards,

A few weeks ago, I stumbled onto this website while doing some research on the web. It didn't take long before I got to reading all of your interesting posts containing so many different strong opinions about so many different topics. Over those weeks, I sat as a viewer and admired the brilliant conversation that takes place on this board and I have to say it's one of the best forums where no opinions are held back and light is shed where it need be the most.

I have grown to admire the minds of many regular posters here (names kept to myself) and wish to participate. So on top of my thanks to you and introduction of myself, I'm prepared for following opinions of myself.

I am a white male from South Carolina, 33 years of age. Since childhood, I have been raised in areas either equally populated by both black and white races or the majority by black. Growing up, I didn't know what discrimination was to another person as everyone was equal to me. To this day my beliefs hold true despite the evil lurking about that tries to separate color. As I grew older I understood what things I desired from life, this including my love for black women. My past two relationships were with black women, one of which was very dark skinned (this seems to be an ongoing issue on this forum) and the other of a dark brown. Color aside, my intentions were not solely on color but what we shared together and care for one another. I'm currently in a fantastic relationship with another beautiful black woman who is of light complexion. We are truly soul-mates and I'm planning on popping the question to her in the near future. My current place of employment has employees where 90 percent of them are black and the "clientele" the same. Having constant exposure to different cultures throughout my life and naturally accepting people as "people" has allowed me to live among any culture and love people and not view them as colors. I've shared this to hopefully project the understanding to all members of why I'm actually here, a litte about me and who I am and that I'm not a troll or hater. I look forward to continued reading and now participating in your topics, hopefully welcoming my opinions, views and experiences with you. Should anyone have any questions of me please feel free to ask as I know that none of you are shy.

Well, Purple...I like your vibe a lot more than I like MOONSIGNS.

And, of course, you have a dick and she doesn't.

:-) :-)

Welcome to the board, Snow Trojan.

Of course, how I really feel about you will have more to do with how ABM takes to you...or doesn't take to you.

Just being honest.

Steve_s is our resident white guy on this board, and like him an awful lot.

You probably think I'm the BITCH of the soap opera, so I won't say too much more.

Hopefully you've ordered a copy of my autobiography? You'll find it quite illuminating.

It'll be interesting to have you around. :-)

Thanks for the welcome, Kola! Honestly, I can let this seep out that you are among one of the favorite posters I've been reading. You're not a bitch by any means as you just spice up the boards without the same dull responses and opinions. You're one of main ingredients in the pot and it wouldn't taste the same without you, I know that. I've seen many sides to you and I know what you're capable of. I'll just be sure not to step on your toes intentionally and if I do, I sure won't do it too hard. :-)

AWwwww, come on Purple.

Don't tell me you're going to withhold SPANKINGS just like ABM, Nels, Troy and the other guys?

What is it with you American guys?

LOL! :-)

Thanx for saying something kind. I appreciate it.

LoL! Trust me, it's not skin color it's the person. My first relationship was with the very dark skinned woman and I proposed to her. Unfortunately our relationship had problems and decided to end it. The skin color had no factor in my care or intentions with them. It just so happened that I've finally found the right "person" that I'm ready to share life with.

I knew this dark and light skin color was a hot topic here. :-)

I believe you, Purple.

But the fact that your wife is "light" AND doesn't want to raise your children as "black", but as "biracial"....indicates that she must be EXTREMELY LIGHT or biracial herself.

I can't imagine a yellow black woman going for that.

And I have to give Moonsigns credit on this one.

At least she produced children that she considers to be "black" and who are being raised black.

She's not biracial and not extremely light. She chooses to raise her child as "biracial" and feels that neither culture from which the child is from should be excluded. To take away from the child that shares both black and white heritage one of those and simply categorize them as strickly "black" or "white" would be unfair to the child, don't you think? I don't understand why it's such a bad thing, as you seem to be implying, for a child to be raised as "biracial".

wlecome to the board purple.

While it's understandable that a parent would want their biracial child to celebrate both cultures, i think the reason it would be important to raise a "biracial" child as black (especially a biracial child who is a mx of black and white) is because black is the most oppressed group and the group that needs the most support. There is a strong pull towards whiteness and white culture all over the world, so rather a child is biracial or not they will be forced to understand and accept white culture...so in order to combat it i think there needs to be an even stronger insistance on the childs "black" identity (which is an identity that varies and means many different things to many different people).

i feel that "multi-racial" and "mixed race" people have a repsonsibility to identify with the most oppressed group that makes up their identity.

the same can be said for if a child is asian and white. i would think the child has more of a responsibility to asian people.

....but there's nothing wrong with raising the child to respect, understand and celebrate both cultures.

especially when you look at the fact that race is a social construct anyway, it's easier to understand where i'm coming from because there's really no such thing as a mixed person. So, you may as well raise the child as black.

i hope that what i said is clear and makes sense because it's kind of hard to explain.

anyway, good luck to you and your soon to be fiance.

Kola,

how do we post smileys on this board and pictures...for some reason i can't post smileys or pictures on here
