The lola_ogunnaike has been banned as the real Lola Ogunnaike, from the New York Times, contacted me and informed me that she has been impersonated on these discussion boards.
This kind of shit pissed me off!
It only takes a handful of people to screw things up for everyone. I thought spammers were bad – they are – but these people, like the Lola impersonator, are even worse.
Unfortunately, I’m used to this crap:
The Queensboro Shirt Company a business I like (I buy all of my AALBC.com Logo shirts from them) sent me a copy of a law suit; sent to them by an “attorney”. The law suit was AALBC.com suing Queensboro for sending too many faxes. I had no idea about this action until Queensboro contacted me. People have taken documents I have written and published them under their own name. People have even copied entire chunks on AALBC.com to use in their own websites – the list goes on…
So What makes this even worse is that this Imposter is using AALBC.com to abuse someone else – for no apparent reason.
The Lola IMPOSTER has created 500 posts. The vast majority, of these posts, I have not read, so I have no clue what the person’s motivation was; are they delusional, malicious, who knows? Can someone who has read Lola’s posts fill me in on this character?
In the meantime time the real Lola has asked me to remove all of her posts. Like I have time to do this. I have half a mind to just drop the entire board and start from scratch, but I know that will not solve the problem as low life’s lurk at every corner ready to phuck shit up.

The Lola imposter was a cameleon-like character, sometimes offering intelligent observations and other times resorting to lewd taunts. There was nothing consistent about her persona; she seemed to be a mischievous provocateur. |

The posts that were created by the Lola imposter were very similar in verbiage to IgboGirl's. They both targeted one of our gentleman posters with the same types of immature taunts and provocative advances and they both posted X-rated pix ("Lola" claimed that someone e-mailed her job with pix of a sexual nature, which she posted and asked us if we recognized the people in the pix - as if we know what each other looks like). So my guess into motivation is that you banned a troll (probably some racist white person) and they turned around and created the imposter account to harrass you by creating more chaos on the forum.
Would it be possible for you to change her user name so that the posts aren't attributable to the real Lola??? That would save you the hassle of deleting all those posts.

Lola's posts were "SPOOFS" of my posts,
Troy.
Her whole everything was indirectly related
to Kola Boof and so was Igbogirl.
They both mentioned me every other post and
Igbo even lead people to think she was me.
In fact many times--LOLA copied my old
vintage posts and re-posted them under
her name.
OMG!!!!!!
...we haven't heard from TONYA today.
Not a single post.
I pray she wasn't Lola.
No, it can't be!

Thanks Troy. I understand what you have to put up with bro. As I said from the beginning, it was Igbo who was spoofing. She is one sick and depraved puppy. As you all recall, I said the only way to curtail her antics was to not respond to anything she posted. But it was her. Clear and simple. I don't particularly like censorship, but you were forced to take drastic measures especially since a possible legal issue could have reared its head. But I do wonder how she got her password to get on the board. Hmmmmmmm.....

Also, how do we know that after having had her fun, Lola didn't decide to attrtibute what she was doing to an "imposter". She took an awful long time coming forward. Nothing about what people do in the anonymity of the cyber world surprises me. Or do I discount the possibility that Lola was spoofing Igabo gal. What made me veeeery suspicious of Igabogal was that she very subtly taunted me in regard to my "thing" for actor Viggo Mortensen, not somebody who is exactly a household name. |

Yall, the actual Lola emailed me. It was one line but I emailed her at herr NYtimes account.
I just checked my email and she told me she'd look into this.
Here is the email. Her response in the first sentence:

What was very odd about this Lola was it posted LOTS of what appear to be fairly PERSONAL pictures of I can only presume to be the REAL person (in what looked to be her in an office, at parties and banquets).
This suggests that this internet imposter may be a REAL acquaintance of Ms Ogunnaike. |

Cynique---when the F.B.I. "investigate" something, even when it has to do with you, they don't contact YOU, because you yourself might be the perpetrator.
They also may have found out that you weren't of significance to whatever it is that's going on.
I STILL am in the dark about what's going on. I was simply told not to respond/interact with THAT PERSON (LOLA).
If a book of some kind is being written---then there are all kinds of LEGAL REASONS that it would behoove me, Troy Johnson and anybody else whose being LIED ON in that book not to trade information with that person.
Ever think about that?
I honestly don't know and I'm in the dark about the circumstances. BUT I CAN REPORT THAT I WAS WARNED.

Glad you made some headway on the "perceived" identity theft. Maybe this board's real participants will be even quick(er) to spot and analyze an imposter from now on. It's fairly easy to go along with the bullsh*t that the phonies and trolls post. In the end, the "genuines" always seem to eventually figure out who's the real deal and who isn't - and that's even if it's Kola figuring it out. Only time will tell what's really going on. Also, it always seemed that the so-called Lola character on this board was kind of fake because "their" skin was too thin for the personal bullets, laser beams and A-bombs that frequent these threads. |

Or if they simply want to get LOLA fired from her job at the N.Y. TIMES where she had just been SUSPENDED.
Whoever this person was, they wanted to convince us that they were Lola by posting Photos that only Lola would have.
At the same time, photos of "Kola" (which just happens to rhyme with Lola) have been sent to "strangers" who were asked to identify me
as the person sending them is supposedly a
loved one looking for me----messages nearly
identical to the ones LOLA posted were being
posted on my WEB SITE GUEST BOOK.
This prompted me to return to aalbc.com and
I was promptly told not to have interaction
with the poster called "LOLA".
I TOLD YOU ALL THIS.
Everyone berated me for being a "lunatic"----ESPECIALLY TONYA.
Whatever the "details" could be of what's going on here with LOLA (because I honestly have no idea).....I really don't see WHY IN THE •••• I would need to make up some preposteous story of the F.B.I. warning me not to speak to a fellow poster on a message board.
AND MISS CYNIQUE--...you may recall that
someone "blackmailing" OPRAH was just jailed
and that she scarcely knew the details of the
investigation or what was even going on----she
dealt with the "CHICAGO POLICE"----totally unaware of all the F.B.I. work that went into her case until the guy was arrested.
I've been on a "Suspected Terrorists" list since 2002 for those IDIOTS scratching their heads and not understanding why after they sat up and watched me on national television in both 2003 and 2006.........therefore, I am automatically on both the State Department and the F.B.I.s radar at all times (DOES THAT MAKE SENSE TO ANYBODY WITH A BRAIN?)----so it follows that anyone who enters into my orbit, whether it's my friends at "church" or my friends on this discussion board, they're automatically checked out.
IP Addresses, PCs, all of this "electronic shit" that you're hooked up to right now....delivers MOUNTAINS of information about everyone here.
LOLA entered into my orbit.
The only thing I can do....is report to you all
WHAT I WAS TOLD.

Americansista I was wondering how Lola found out about this stuff -- thanks.
In response to my post asking for verification of Lola's identity. The imposter replied with an email address with lola name embedded in it yahoo I think. Of course email addresses are also easy to spoof as well.
I never got around to following up with the NY Times, so thanks Americansista.
I'll have to check for the easiest way to clean up these posts. I don't want to delete everything either. Mzuri you had an interesting idea. Right now I'm thinking I can archive the posts with her name in them into oblivion. But I still have 1/2 a mind to delete everything, and spend my weekend watching football and sucking back a few beers,
It also occurred to me that the "real" Lola could be fake too. But at this point I don't care I just want to be done with it crap... it is taking up too much of my time.
ABM I agree that Lola was likely aquainted with her impostor. I'd asked her that given the nature of some of the posts that I've read.
Kola, as far as the FBI is concerned. I don't really understand what you are saying. reading it in this content makes it seem completely implausible. Would you make this plain, in a separate thread, and describe, what you mean with all of this FBI, and stalking stuff?
Lola imposter, whoever you are, you should come clean and confess your sins and your motivation -- you know where to email me.

Yeah Troy. These posters had way too much in common and they knew too much about the board. Is there a way to check to see if they're all linked? More importantly, can you check to see how many accounts each of us "regular posters" have and tell if one person's account(s) can be linked to the Lola imposter's account and/or some of the other "troller" accounts? I'm sure none of us will mind, since we all either have only one account or accounts that have been made public. Infact if you do any of this - presuming it's not too much of a hassle - it would satisfy a lot of us who lurk & post, I’m sure. |

Yeah Troy, these posters had way too much in common and they knew too much about the board. Is there a way to check to see if they're all linked? More importantly, can you check to see how many accounts each of us "regular posters" have and tell if one person's account(s) can be linked to the Lola imposter's account and/or some of the other "troller" accounts? I'm sure none of us will mind, since we all either have only one account or accounts that have been made public. Infact if you do any of this - presuming it's not too much of a hassle - it would satisfy a lot of us who lurk & post, I’m sure. |

I have no reason to lie about your impersonating an editorial assistant from Essence Magazine, kola, and if it wouldn't be such a monumental task I would search the archives and try and find the whole thread where you finally fessed up to your disguise and everybody had a good laugh about it. I believe "a-woman" and "just-write" and some other old regulars were participants in the thread. |
