On the one hand you are so busy and all watching 500 movies a week or a year or whatever, on the other hand you can hold yourself out as an authority on them.

Only in America. I could launch into a dissertation of how your so called reviewing reveals a lack of chops: ie you show no knowledge or understanding of a history of documentaries, technique of film making, etc. But as you are of the computer generation which thinks that having all knowledge at one's fingertips is equivalent to knowing, it is useless.

So I will bow to your limited attention span and ask one question. Then you can get back to playing Grand Theft Auto or whatever.

You say Spike Lee got into bed with Ray Nagin--the conservative white boy says he didn't let him off the hook.

One of you is mistaken at least.

So who is it?

Try to use some paragraphs this time.

Maybe Kam has better things to do...

Look, I'm not trying to defend Kam, but Chris have you considered that the "White" journalist writing for a "White" publication is not as "Free" as Kam is to critize a Spike Lee?

Are you saying that Sonny Bunch's assessment of Ray Nagin is more accurate than Kam's? If so why? Unfortunatley one would not be able to devine this information from the "documentary"

Chris why don't you write a review? I'd gladly publish it.

Surely you jest.

I remember one white publication interviewing Spike Lee and on the cover stating, "Spike Lee Hates Your Cracker Ass!" and it wasn't a right wing publication.

Chris, It's really not interesting to me to respond to personal insults. I do not feel at all defensive when someone attacks me as not being black. And as I said before, I haven't gotten involved in this sort of blogging before, and see no reason to if all that's involved is that sort of schoolyard name-calling. I'm not a masochist or dumb enough to waste my time with people who are only interested in denigrating me. Kam

Kam:

Did you ever see the movie "Patton"? Remember when Patton slaps the soldier in the tent suffering from battle fatigue.

Later he apologized, realizing that it was not the thing to do, but explaining that he sought to return the man's self respect by shaming him into action.

Kam, as Kola Boof said, we are trying to influence you to turn out the best reviews that you can. Perhaps our methods are a little rough--but if you review this site you see we have been no rougher on you than we have each other.

Our motives, I assure you, are pure.

After watching Spikes documentary for the third time--indeed after watching the opening collage to act one of scenes flashed on the screen while Louis Armstrong sings, "Do You Know What it Means to Miss New Orleans" I realize that I was perhaps unfair--

You could have written an essay just on those few minutes, so powerful were they, so full of import.

You were in over your head trying to spit out a review so quickly to four hours of documentary that invoked such powerful emotions.

Kam, I know Spike Lee has many enemies. He has said things that have angered me. But his documentary was above and beyond reproach. I have seen you say nothing to make me think my initial reaction to your review was incorrect--

Maybe rude and too strong, but you are a veteran and a pro. You know that's part of the game.

Chris, The problem is that I don't know anything about you, meanwhile people posting here feel free to take potshots at me, talking about biting off my private parts, accuse me of being white based on my photograph, and demaning my credentials based on my brief bio. That Louis Armstrong song was malapropos. This song should've opened the documentary: http://www.hurricanesong.com/ It was the best song written about it, and I did an interview with the brother who wrote and recorded it. He would've given it to Spike for free. Why wasn't it in there? Really, you have to understand that I come from a very progressive political orientation, not from a conservative. I write 40+ articles per month, so I feel that faithful readers will understand that I was simply disappointed by the movie, and that I am not against Spike. His film was virtually indistinguishable from than the Discovery or PBS specials that came on the next week. Kam

Look at your WHITE ASS:

And I will bite off your cock and EAT it!

I'm actually curious to know what a White "negro" Snausage takes like anyway.

Bet it looks like a Polish "WURST" dog--the white kind with the veiny quality.

Yeah.

Now this negro--who to my knowledge has never made a film BUT HAS WATCHED 500 of them (the same can be said of my 6 year old nephew) is going to say what song Spike should have used.

You are coming up lame, pal.

Do you understand irony? That was what the juxtaposition of those images with the Armstrong song (Louis Armstrong has nothing to do with New Orleans? Don't they have some parks and airports named after him?)which was light and happy with the grim pictures.

Even I know this. But then again I watched the film.

Obviously the school systems wherever you are are a total favor. Go back and take some fiction courses on the uses of irony.

Williams--that review was a disgrace.

Not just for a black reviewer. But for any reviewer.

It reads like you watched the program while you were on the phone with your woman, talking about where you were going out later that night.

As James Earl Jones said in Conan, "Contemplate all this on the tree of woe"

MARK MY WORDS, KAM!

In later years when people are writing about this documentary your review, if mentioned, is going to be in the group cited by the writers to show there were people who did not know what they were talking about.

Snakegirl, It has come to my attention that you are, in fact, Kola Boof. I checked out your website and found it intriguing. Had you approached me in a more civil manner, I might have been inclined to interview you for my 100+ outlets. the same goes for you Chris, as I found out that you are the author of a recently published novel. Why the two of you would choose to overreact to a movie review is beyond me. But it happens every time I review something of a political or religious nature. Please read Alton Maddox's op-ed in the 8-31 issue of the Amsterdam News on Katrina. He is very criticof Mayor Nagin, and I agree with his assessment of the situation. I remain, Kam

I'm BANNED from here---for vicious attacks

That's why I have to pretend to be "Snakegirl".

I just wanted to intimidate and scare you.

Of course, I disagree with you about Spike Lee's movie.

BUTTTTTTTT

...since you were nice to me,
I now have to be nice to you. :-)

I apologize, Snow Ball...for shak'n
you up and stuff.

But I don't like ANY of your reviews.

I will admit that I think you're cute,
though.

Not as cute as an authentic black man, but
you're certainly DISTINCTIVE.

I give you a B+ for restraint, Kam. Ain't too many posters on this board who can resist being drawn into abrasives exchanges with people who attack them. There's a kind of arrogance to your stonewalling but you've obviously discovered the effectiveness of meeting hostility with indifference. Good for you!

Kam:

How juvenile you are.

"If you hadn't kissed my butt, I would be putting you on the road to stardom with my 100+ outlets--"

If you keep writing ying yang like you did about "When The Levees Broke" it will be a badge of honor to be on your list.

Perhaps, desperate for some publicity I may one day regret having exposed you as a fraud--

On the otherhand, if me or Kola gets red hot, you are going to do it anyway--even if it is to say something derogatory.

Just spell the name right, baby. You can spell, can't you?

After all, you hate Spike Lee--and I will allow that I too, have had problems with that Little Lizard--for instance his attacks on hip-hop after having pimped it all these years in his movies and advertisements--he has made some great movies

Mostly ones he has restrained himself from appearing in, like "When the Levees Broke".

If and when such a situation arises that you have to swallow your bile and come crawling for an interview, I will grant it, of course because I have been around to know it's all in the game, baby.

IF YOU CAN'T STAND DE HEAT STAY OUT DE KITCHEN!

You have made some points. You have gathered that fawning yes woman Cynique into your fold==for now.

I warn you--she is sometimey!

Ta ta!

Cynque, I appreciate your intelligent observations. Are you a writer too? I still don't know anything about you. Kola, i've never been called Polack before, but as a kid, my nickname was "Kraut" because it was post World War II and the kids on my block decided I was the closest thing around to a German. If you don't want to do an interview, then maybe I should review your autobiography and critique your writing. Let me know if you're interested, but I will obviously give my honest opinion, for better or worse. Chris, I don't know hwhat you mean when you say I helped Spike. I have reviewed many of his films, some positively, some negatively. I have interviewed numerous times, and one of my interviews with him even appears in the book Spike Lee Interviews, alongside tete-a-tetes with such luminaries as Charlie Rose and Stanley Crouch. I see myself as a simple writer who enjoys what I do but wants to remain under the radar. I want people to enjoy my articles, or hate them, but I don't want to become the story. Peace, Kam

Hi KAM!

I'd love to do an interview with you. That would be fun provided we can come to an agreement on how I'm to be presented in the introduction.

After the intro---you can ask me anything you like.

But I'd also like you to review "Diary of a Lost Girl".
