One day my dog was home. My best friend, confidant and cuddle buddy. Then all of a sudden my friend was gone. No he didn't run away but we sure celebrated every day. Now I am getting older and boy I just like to celebrate birthdays without making age such a big deal. "The True Meaning of Your Birthday: Living Life with Purpose" by Michael Walker did boost my faith, make me smile, and it sure made me feel better while I put things in perspective. The author talked about some things that I never gave much thought about "Sistahs" and "Bros". Now I am all aroused about the subject of Birthdays.

Found it on Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble web site as well. Any words of wisdom to share?

To me, age is just a number. Taped on my computer is a picture taken of me wearing a cap and gown on the occasion of my graduation from high school. I look at that 17-year-old girl and know that I am virtually the same person who I was back then with a few added pounds, a few visible facial lines and a diploma from the school of experience. And, although I will be 73 in August, I haven't let a little thing like that drastically change me. It bothers some people who think I should "act my age" but hey, fuck dat. My core personality will not be suppressed and I am who I am. zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I love my birthday! It's the ONLY day in the WHOLE year that is MINE! Sometimes I think of my antics and laugh at how silly I am at my age but I can't really do anything about it. I am who I am and that's an older woman who loves to laugh, a little bit lazy but who still takes care of her business and tries to stay out of others.

Oh yeah, and this past birthday I took myself to the casino and won over $900! Happy Birthday Crystal!

I forgot, on my birthday this year I also attended my 50-year old best friend's college graduation! How cool was that?!?!?

Definitely celebrate! There is only one alternative to growing older, afterall.

I love the image of you typing zingers here on this board infused with the spirit of your 17-year old self, Cynique! And Crystal, congrats on your winnings--WHat did you do with the money? Please don't tell me you paid a bill or something. Hopefully you did something fun and extravagant for yourself.

Happy birthday to anyone whose birthday it is, has been recently, or will be soon!

Everyone else: "A very merry unbirthday to you, to you!"

Exactly what day in August is your birthday?
