They are okay but you can also do it yourself.
1-edit your manuscript
2-format your manuscript
3-design the cover (color or black/white)
4-get a printer to print your book
order your book from them (minimum 1000)
5-plan your book signing party
sell
sell
sell
register book with amazon.com +
You can do it yourself and maintain 100% rights of your book.

No one wanted to help me but i did the research and I published my work myself....

You know Yesayah I was watching this program on rappers and noted that lots of them, especially in the Derrty South, start out that way.

It takes time and money but they say they know the business better than rappers who go right into recording companies and writing is also a business.

Thanks Jackie and Chrishayden.

I designed both covers “Sofi's Load” and “Poetry in Haiti.” I took my idea to a very brilliant graphic designer named Watson and he worked his magic and gave me such beautiful covers...WritersDigest rated both covers 5/5 & 4/5

Chrishayden, that information is correct. Self-publishing opens the door for authors to learn every angle in book Production. I promise you, from every angle the author will benefit. Self-publishing is more than just claiming 100% authorship …it’s about leading and controlling your work. Once you self-published, you automatically become an Entrepreneur.

That’s how I started my self-publishing company BOIS-CAIMAN-BOOKS….
I know people in the industry but once my manuscript was done, they turned their back and left me alone to find my own way. But their jealousy was my blessing because I learned to carry my own load and do things myself. See, when your own people don’t want to help you, don’t fret-- TAKE Charge and do it yourself.

Thank God for the Internet. Do your research and go for it.
I did it and you can do it too.

There's a great self-publishing guide on the following website:
http://www.avid-readers.com/selfpublished.html

Keep in mind that it's very hard work. Not just the publishing but the marketing and selling after it's published.

Best of luck,

Emanuel Carpenter
