If racial justice is about "equality", and being POTUS is a "task" which requires widsom and foresight and intelligence then, with it becoming evident that Obama is not "equal" to the "task", the prime factor responsible for his being discriminated against is - himself. I am not racist but I am prejudiced. I think there is no substitute for the wisdom that comes with age, and a man in his forties who has been insulated in the cocoon of academia and who has only dipped his big toe in the sea of politics is not ideally qualified to be the stalwart leader of the free world. Being this is indeed a monumental job and what is needed is a messianic father figure who inspires confidence, not a romantic knight whose shining armour is being tarnished more by the day. Yes, racism is a hurdle put into Obama's path. So what else is new? He can't eliminate it. He has to grow up and step up and make mature decisions instead of involving himself in petty picadillos. Becoming a cheerleader for Chicago's run for the Olympic gold proved once again to be a bad move on his part. IMO. |

Cynique, I have to disagree. Fatherly figures, such as Reagan, dorve the country off a cliff. Trickle down economics that never trickled anything down wrecked the nation and stripped the middle class clean. The top 1% has more wealth than the bottom 95%, how do you think that took place? If you remember, the house of cards finally collapsed in October of 2008 before the election and the TARP legilation was passed. The auto bailouts started under Bush. Obama inherieted a crumbling castle that was stripped bare along with the middle class. It is hard to prove a negative and saying if the $800 billion plus stimulus passed by Obama is working is impossible because it is not possible to know how bad things would have become if it was not enacted. When some governers are asked how did they used the stimulus, many will say to cover budget shortfalls. Without the stimulus, shortfalls mean state layoffs. Is a job save the same as a job created? As for the racism, that is pointed to by some analysis and breakdown of voting patterns and polling on certain issues after Obama took office. The data combined with actions are what my book Obama Guilty of Being President While Black looks at to draw certain conclusions. We have had enough "fatherly figures" and look where that led us to. As for the Olympics, it would have brought many jobs to America when we really need them, that is part of his job. He also met with a general about Afganistan while on his Olympic trip. Obama inherited a miasma of problems that have no clear cut solutions. Nobody expects him to work miracles. What a father figure does is comfort the populace simply by projecting a reassuring image that makes them feel less insecure. Reagan was not a father figure; he was a jolly uncle who instilled dreams of the "white city on the hill". Nobody ever thought of him as having the best interest of anybody but the rich. Eisenhower was the consummate fatherly figure who held America's hand during the 50s. Obama is a brother figure; a basketball-playing hot dog who knows no more about what he's doing than the rest of his siblings. The Olympics were not going to greatly benefit America economically. Or were they going to have any long term positive effects on Chicago. There was a lot of opposition from other factions in the city who claimed that hosting the Olympics would do more harm than good in the long run. They cited Atlanta as an example of how the Olympics came and went without exerting in appreciable improvements on the city or the country. Obama's having a conference on the plane to Copenhagen and then simply putting in an appearance at the presentation did more harm than good because the IOC felt as if Obama was taking them for granted and too many Americans thought their president didn't have his priorities together. |

*Copied from another site but it fits right here* My man, Big RiPPa, whatsup baby. Man, this post had so many tentacles! I mean, you left few stones unturned. When you hit us with the Frebreeze and the good dishes, I knew you were bringing it home. Er'body knows about the good dishes. So, it sounds like everybody would have been paid. You're kidding me, Booger Bookman, JJ, and Mr. Evan- really? But man, why you cappin' on Forrest Whitaker's speed bump? I kinda understand though, he's a great actor but there's something about that neck. It makes him look like his breath stinks. I am trying to get serious about this post and the Olympic mess but why did you have to mention Tony Kucoc getting paid more than Micheal Jordan. What kind of city smiles when someone says "lovable losers" - huh? Renting on Craigslist? I thought you had to sign a document to get in one of those nice highrise apartment like Cabrini Greens. You know, "I'll only sell dope on the weekends, and I promise never to use a PC". Big Rippa, am trying to get serious about this Olympic thang but why did you have to mention Gayle and Oprah bumpin' tiddies. That ain't right man. See, that's why Chicago lost the bid. Yep, homosexuals did it. Don't talk about Cleveland and the state of Ohio. You know that's protected land for all those great war heros - Nazi's. But seriously, ANYONE that thinks the vote was swayed by recent violence in Chicago, is nothing more than a huckleberry, A SPECIAL KIND OF FOOL - a zip fool. Lets see, the voters were on the fence and were waiting for Oprah and the presidents spill? Get the f**k out of here. Lets see, LA and Atlanta doesn't have gangs and violence. Can anyone say the Atlanta child murders. CHINA .....lets stop. But wait, should we talk about poverty, and the homeless and the exploited children AND the blatant crime of the winning country? Nope, the voting community was voting against AMERICA, and their olympic body. Them white folks have been showing their ass for years. The vote was annouced days ago, but the real vote was cast months ago, if not years ago. Look, we know there's racism in America and across the world but anybody that thinks this was about Obama is asleep at the wheel, or are simply doing what they do best. You know, throw a brick at what they perceive to be Obama's house, or what they want to be Obama's house. Silly old fence straddling haters. Dumb Ni**as too! |

Why would anyone who thinks "the vote was swayed by recent violence in Chicago" be considered a "huckleberry"????? And did anybody deny that the rejection of Chicago's Olympic bid was also a rejection of America and its arrogance??? |

No no no! A slick talker and a fast walker would have the unsuspecting entertaining the conversation about all the peripheral events around the Chicago Olympics. A purveyor of cloudy mess will have a person listening to messages without an ending. A discerning eye would go directly to the source. If a person wanted to know why a person did not vote for Chicago, I would suggest they go to that person's house. People whisper in their sleep and at their blogs and at their headquarters. A smart person might find out that Chicago was well behind, and that's why Obama and Oprah did what they did. Their appeal actually brought up the vote count. Even though Chicago lost the bid, the facts will speak for themselves. Opinions will always suffer in the face of facts. GO DT POLLARD! You the man. Some people love the quasi comfort of spouting opinions as if they were facts. |

Look who's talkin - or at least trying unsuccesfully to untie your tongue and convey something other than gibberish. Where do you get your "facts"? Did you go to the home of the IOC members who voted against Chicago? Puleeze. Were you on the plane coming back with the Chicago delegation? All you know is what you read in the newspapers - just like everybody else. And once again you are trying to contradict something that wasn't said. Me and most people in Chicago knew the bid wasn't a slam dunk because it was greatly publicized by the opposing factions who said that Mayor Daly & Co. didn't have their bottom line in order. Oprah and Obama and their presumptuousness didn't sway anybody but the groupies who couldn't vote. And YOU, of course, who apparently were over there eavesdropping on conversations, ignoring the other circumstances that had to do with it being South America's turn to host the Olympics, as well as the undercurrent of anti-American sentiments which spawned coalitions between the European and Asian delegations. This is what is being speculated by insiders, and YOU don't know any more accurate facts than anybody else. Now go back to the muddy fields of Iowa. Ain't it pumpkin pickin time? |

Cynique, why do you insist on raising your hand when NO ONE is talking about you??? Someone says there's an old witch that lives down the street, and you raise your hand. Someone speaks of a fast walker and slick talker ....and you raise your hand. Someone talks about a person that feels comfort in quasi facts ....and you raise your hand. Why oh why do you insist or believing the conversations are about you? I know you read the papers in Chicago. People in Bentback Mississippi can do the same. Then, through your misplaced feelings of anger and resentment, you resort to pulling out your razor. A dull razor but a cutting torch no less. Yes, there are pumpkins in Iowa. but please don't think someone is calling you a scarecrow. You're going to run out of stars. You should save them for a rainy day. Ut oh, please don't think I am calling you a dew worm. You have a way of thinking things are all about you. Who in their right mind would think you're a fast talker, and lord knows you ain't walking too fast. Is this the time for your white girl cry? Could you please give the readers some respect. Stop it, I am not calling you Aretha Franklin either. Call me :-) |

And did anybody deny that the rejection of Chicago's Olympic bid was also a rejection of America and its arrogance??? "This is the bottom line. Everybody is damn sick of America and its arrogance and its screwing up, and people overseas are not fools and did not believe that the addition of a smiling frontman and his wife made a damn difference in the way America is doing its business. This is revenge for all the no fly lists, for all the no entry lists, for making everybody take off their shoes and other humiliations. The party is over." "Obama should hope this is a wash at least--but all them white folks who thought he was gonna be able to make the last 30 years disappear are now shaking in their boots" |

Tell me, Carey - O great purveyor of nebulous ambiguity, why do YOU RESENT it when I respond to your comments? Whether they are specifically directed to me or not, when you put them out there, anyone who has an opposing opinion can chime in. When you accuse anybody of what you, yourself, are guilty of, it's my prerogative to chide you if I so choose. In any case, you are also the Great Insinuator who feigns innocence after you execute your sneakiness. Nobody but you, me, and Pollard were contributing to this thread. Just who were you referring to when you made the irrelevant remark which followed my post? Not that it matters. I said what I said. If you don't like it, toooooooooooooo frickin bad. Furthermore, you over-estimate yourself. I have no reason to be bitter or resentful toward a fruitcake like you. You and your penchant for mixing apples and oranges when trying to make your points are a source of great amusement to me. I love the way you lamely try to spin gold out of your straw. Cracks me up. As for stars, I rarely waste them on your posts. And never feel the need to issue them to myself. Get YOUR paranoia in check, you addled-brained old wanna be. |

I agree with you, Chrishayden, that the Democrats are wimpasses who are gradually snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory. And the honeymoon is over for poor Obama. SNL's opening sketch ridiculed him for having accomplished absolutely nothing since becoming elected. Not a good omen. I fear that Obama is morphing into a Hamlet-like figure - a soon-to-be tragic hero whose ambtions exceeded his abilities and doomed his fate... Afghanistan may be his Waterloo. |

Cynique wrote - "you addled-brained old wanna be" Now you're finally talking snakeshit, I mean shakesphere. How did you know I WANNA BE just like you. I want to emulate your thriftiness. I want to light my farts and use the heat to save on my heating bills. And while I am at it (wanting to be just like you) I'll use the flame to burn off a few gray whiskers. It's my hope that everyone wants to be something other than an old gray mule. Now please, don't raise your hand because I wasn't calling you a donkey flunky - okay. I wasn't trying to imply that you wear a poop bag, while being rode in one of Chicago's great parades. Don't even go there - okay. Maybe you are right. Maybe I over-estimate my ability to be just like you. Maybe I'll never be able to light my fire and warm my lunchmeat and save on my light & gas bill. Put down that razor, you're bleeding. BTW, why did you highjack DT Pollards post - huh? the man was up in here trying to promote his wonderful book and you shuffled up in here with your usual diet of Obama hateraid. Oh, I was wondering what you thought about the health care package? I don't think it covers witchcraft. Oh no, don't go there. Please, put down your hand. I wasn't talking about you :-). |

Blah, blah, blah. Really gotcha goin, huh, "Tangle Tongue"? Don't get hysterical. You're krazy enuff, already. Pollard supplied a link that gave a sampling of opinions about the subject of his book, and I added mine. I see you didn't refrain from posting your 1-cent on his "private" thread. I hope your suckin up inspires him to come to your rescue. You could use some help, here, Gramps. And who said anything about you wanting to be like ME???? Is that a Freudian slip??? . But it does behoove you to try and be like somebody other than your stupid self. My criticism of Obama is not grounded in hate. It's spurred by an ardent desire for him to do better at quashing those right-wing Conservative lunatics. Of course a you can't figure this aesthetic out because your mind-set is too primitive. Get you head outta yer azz and move along. You're obstructing traffic like the "road-kill" that you are. EW. |
