In advance of the AALBC.com 2.0 upgrade please consider joining the site. By joining you'll be able to communicate with friends, comment on book reviews and all of AALBC.com's content. It is free and easy. If you already have a facebook, Google or Myspace account, signing up is trivial. You may sign up by visiting this page http://67.199.24.148/authors/tracie_howard.htm you'll find a very early draft of a new AALBC.com content page which includes 2 places where you can sign up. The final version of the page will look different, but this sample will give you a preview of the direction I'm taking. Hopefully I'll finish the layout of this by the end of the week. The new discussion board will be part of AALBC.com proper. I'll keep this web site active for viewing indefinitely -- however I do plan to migrate all of the content to the new boards. Of course the new boards functionality is off the chain. It will be VERY difficult to spam the board and EASY for me to do something about it; instead of the other way around. Question: You know the easiest way to get rid of spam in your email? Answer: Get rid of your email account. That was how I stopped the board form getting spammed -- I prevented all new "people" from joining. Obviously that is not good if you are trying to encourage participation from new people... By the end of November, I'll send an email to everyone with an active account and ask them to join sign up for the new boards. Peace | ||

FK I just went to the page just now to see who signed up and the page is not showing the signup their was one at the top of the page and one at the bottom. It is obviously some google mess going down (they don;t like to work with websites that don;t have a domain associated to them. I may have to push AALBC.org to the new site... I have to look into it. Of course this only happened AFTER I told everyone to check it out. argh! | ||

I HAD to associate a domain name to my new the new version of AALBC.com I choose one of the aliases http://aalbc.biz So the new version of the Tracie Howard page is http://aalbc.biz/authors/tracie_howard.htm Eventually there will be several versions of this page created for evaluation. I've not worked on this for a few days. This current version is a slightly modified version of the format I current use. I did add some social netwrking functionality and would like some people to check it out sign up and use it. Cynique, I've made this a little more confusing than necessary. Over the next couple of months I'll make it plain. If you are interested in a preview the new discussion board it is here: http://aalbc.biz/tc eventually it will be put on aalbc.com/tc but I have a ton of customization to apply, and that is dependent upon the final AALBC.com which I have not comepleted yet... The discussion board will have much more functionality including integration with facebook. The AALBC.com site, in general, will have social networking capability the ability to comment on every page and interact with other people who "join" the site. you may visit this page; http://aalbc.biz to join in advance of the offical launch I will create a few versions of a content page (Tracie Howard page http://aalbc.biz/authors/tracie_howard.htm is a current work in progress). When they are done I'll post that information here. Hopefully I have not confused thing even more (smile). Bro Troy; I really appreciate your upgrading and launching of a new site. Looks like it will be interesting.Hoping the new forum will allow avatars. That would be great. Please consider. Have you made a firm decision of the forum software? I really like vBulletin. Very robust although you have to purchase a license (well worth it...IMO). | ||

NTFS, Man nothing is absolutely cast in stone, but I did spend some bucks on the newest board's software. I looked at vBulletin off the top of my head I don't recall why I did not choose it. Cynique, you don;t have to just YOUR actual photo you can create an avatar which could be an icon, graphic or other image that represents, for example, your personality. | ||

Hi Cynique!!! Glad to hear from you also, but of course I keep up with your postings that are always to the point. When it come to technology I need all the help tht I can get. Technology facinates me and regret that I do not have the mental capacity or knowledgeabe freiend or relatives to help me acquire the knowledge/skills. Don't know why I want to know all of this , my world is so limited, I would not have use for the numerous applications.I don't know hos to do the avatar or upload photos. I'm glad you're hangin in, dearheart. Me, too! Trying to navigate all of this PC technology is what helps to keep us alert. Fortunately I have grandsons who are whizzes, so I call on them a lot. Computers are a godsend for us seniors; they're our windows to the world. You and I are fortunate that we have any skills at all. There are a lot of old folks who only have TV to entertain them.
