If My Father Dies I Give Birth to Him Again: Selected Writings of Kola Boof

Her memoir "Diary of a Lost Girl" made headlines around the world and was the best book of 2006, according to Princeton’s Kam Williams. Her book of short fiction "Long Train to the Redeeming Sin" was a bestseller at the African American Literary Book Club. Her novel "Flesh and the Devil" and book of poems "Nile River Woman" help make up a body of African American literature that has been called classic by Prof. Derrick Bell of New York University.

Now, Valley Press is publishing excerpts of all these outstanding books in "If My Father Dies I Give Birth to Him Again: Selected Writings of Kola Boof." Editor and publisher Mark Fogarty says “Kola Boof is an extravagantly gifted writer. But her knack for controversy and media celebrity tend to obscure her literary gifts. This book samples her absolutely best work for those who don’t already know it or for those who only know her from her Page Six celebrity.”

The book, available now from Amazon Kindle and in print from Amazon.com by Labor Day, excerpts her account of her childhood days in Africa before the murder of her parents (from the "Diary"), her sharp and shocking stories of African women ("Long Train"), her breathtaking African myth and creation making from "Flesh and the Devil," and her proud and heartbroken poetry about the women, past and present, who have the Nile River at the center of their existences ("Nile River Woman"). This is passionate, important writing by one of America’s best authors.
