You recently remarked on the lack of posts.

How are the HIT numbers for the site?

Chris, sorry man but I keep specifics on web site traffic close to the chest. However there are ways to get object measures of a web site's traffic.

I show the relative rankings of some of the most popular web sites here: http://aalbc.com/otherwebsites.htm

Alexa, Compete do a relatively good job, while they are not exact (no access of the real data). The data is indicative and I have access to the real data of several of the websites the Alexa ranks are accurate based upon the data I have.

Well, you don' have to reveal them. They, I suppose are private. Especially if they are pitiful and laughable and nothing to brag on. Like a wee, puny, pitiful, pecker in a prison shower room...

But if you ARE getting a respectable number, even relatively, I wouldn't worry about it.

If not, then you gotta do something to get NEW BLOOD on the site.

Somebody like Kola Boof, who excites controversy and life...

Hey Chris the numbers are very respectable. The Alexa stats should bear that out. A popular conversation will get hundreds of reads a week (sometimes a day), thousands of reads over its life.

Yeah a Kola does generate interesting posts. But, sometimes, she causes me more trouble than the traffic she might bring is worth. You are unaware of the off-line grief I get as a result of Kola's activities. I've just resigned myself to ignore everything (mostly).

New blood is always good. However you take for granted that what you do by posting here is easy. Having an clear opinions on a variety of subjects and being able to express it coherently, poignantly, abrasively, humorously, compellingly, in written form, having the time to do it, AND the temperament to deal with those who disagree or dislike what you write is not all that common a combination.

Sure you and the other regulars make it look easy; but it is not. I definitely understand and appreciate your gift. Thanks to everyone.

hey BB that one is not the problem, they aren't banned.

The problem has to do with spammers: 1st they have automated "bots" that post all kinds of stuff. So I required everyone to register so that I could screen posters.

Next the bots automatically register. About one out of 100 registrants are bogus and they are increasing difficult to deal with. The problem is that I have manually approve EACH new registrant indiviually. If I skip a day I'd two I have100's to deal with.

There are thousands of accounts pending approval. At this point I'm beaten and have given up.

Occasionally I get an email asking why I did not approve an account. In that case, I'll find that one and approve it.

If it were not for spammers, hackers, and the rest the net would be a much better place (of course the analogy holds in the real world - felt in the real world there is the police).

At the end of the day revamping the entire site is one of my top priorities.
