Call for Writers: TheDefendersOnline Seeks Provocative, Insightful Voices

TheDefendersOnline, the NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s forum for diverse news, views and provocative discussion of race, justice, equality, democracy, culture and The Obama Presidency, is seeking contributors to provide bold, fresh, thought-provoking content for our rapidly-growing readership.

Please review our content on http://www.thedefendersonline.com to become familiar with our focus and style. Generally, we are seeking 500 to 1000 word pieces on topics related to the various facets of civil and human rights outlined above. We pay $250 per piece upon acceptance.

We like a mix of journalism and opinion that is designed to stimulate reader response. All but the most personal opinion pieces should include recent and relevant statistics, expert quotes and supporting data to support the main points. Differing views should be included and addressed as well.

Also include all relevant links to sources and related content to enable readers to learn more.
To pitch a story idea, email Stacey Patton at spatton@naacpldf.org. Include a brief narrative bio of your writing experience and include any publications/books and links to writing samples online, as well as your web site/blog.

All pieces submitted must be in Times Roman font, 12 point, single spaced, with double-spaces between paragraphs and no indents. A tagline indicating how you want to be described must be included at the end of the piece.
