I just got back today and my book was waiting here for me. I'm only on page 65, and I've got to say that this book is the FUCKING BOMB!!!
I can truly understand even more why you say what you do as you do.
This is a book that I think every black person in the world should read....and I'm only on page 65 and know this.
Please, please, please have your publisher donate at least 2 or 3 books to the Atlanta-Fulton County library.....cuz they ain't getting my copy!
I also love how you described your homeland/family life in such a way that I could almost feel that I'm a witness to Oromo culture.
Well, I hope your book gets even more buzz than it has, because just up to page 65 it's a book that NEEDS TO BE READ. I can't even imagine what the rest of the book is like, but I'm sure it will only get better.
Your Auntie Ramah is a TRIP! I wish I could have met her!
BTW, there's a beautiful (IMO) woman on the back, wearing all white with what looks like scars on her face. Is she related to you? I've always loved how BLACK people look so striking in light colored clothing that shows how dark they are. My Nigerian friend (who's in her 60's, and doesn't have even a HINT of a wrinkle or drooping skin or gray hair) only wears pastel colors and looks gorgeous in them.
