Ladies and Gentle men, introducing the new addition to the legacy of Black people in European Royalty.......
--------------------------------------------------

Monaco prince admits love child

Prince Albert of Monaco has a reputation as a playboy prince
Prince Albert II of Monaco has acknowledged that he has had an illegitimate child with a flight attendant from Togo, his lawyer said.
Lawyer Thierry Lacoste said in a statement that the prince, who is not married and has no heir, wanted to face up to his responsibilities.

He said the child, aged 22 months, would not be in line to the throne and would not have the name Grimaldi.

The prince, 47, said he hoped his son could avoid the media spotlight.

Prince Albert's father, Rainier III, died in April aged 81.

Rumours of the prince having a child with former Air France flight attendant Nicole Coste, who is Togolese and holds French citizenship, emerged in some parts of the French media days after Prince Rainier's death.

Ms Coste was quoted as saying she met the prince on a flight in 1997, leading to a relationship and the birth of the boy, Alexandre, in August 2003.

Constitution

In the lawyer's statement, released as the Grimaldi family ends three months of mourning, the prince said he regretted the fact that the press had gone public with the story so close to his father's funeral.

"Prince Albert II asks the press to adopt responsible behaviour, similar to what it has adopted in similar circumstances for other public figures, and to respect his private life and that of the underage child," the statement added.

Prince Albert, often dubbed the "playboy prince", has for years appeared reluctant to get married or start a family, which perhaps prompted his father to change Monaco's constitution in 2002.

Previously, the principality would have become part of France in the absence of a male heir. Rainier had the law changed so that, in the event of Albert remaining childless, Princesses Caroline and Stephanie could follow their brother, who was proclaimed regent during Rainier's last days.

The sisters have seven children between them.

Mr Lacoste said the boy would have the same rights to inheritance as any other child of Prince Albert, should he have any others.

I congradulate Prince albert for taking acknowleging his children (all of them) and not apologizing to the "old hats" for it. Puts him a step above a certain british royal family.

Hmmmmmmmm? Very interesting.

Anyone care to guess why THIS particular son of the newly crowned King of Monacco is denied claim to his father's throne and name?

Me:

Because he (the child) is illegitimate; his father and mother would have had to be married when he was born (or the parents would have to marry, so as to legitimize the child) for him to be eligible to inherit the throne and name of the Grimaldi.

However, I do understand what your point is. There's no way Monacans would EVER allow or accept that child, of their new Prince, to come within reach of the throne. They would rather the throne pass through the female line (which is unprecedented in Monaco’s near 800 year—or what ever it is—history). We all know why.

Was what you refer to the explicit policy of Monacco PRIOR to the acknowledgement of this child or did these rules suddenly come up as a consequence of this?

I hope when the boy becomes an adult he asserts his claim to the throne.

THAT would be a hoot!

This policy was created April 2, 2002--before this child was even conceived. Considering the Prince seems to be quite "the man" (teehee), the family proably felt a need to protect (as much as they can) their family/public image. This, apparently, is not the first time a woman has filed a paternity suit against him. There is also a woman in Cali by the name of Tamara Rotolo that has also filed but by certain legalities, he doesn't have to take the test. And, there is also a topless (German) model that he took a paternity test for but the child is not his.

While this child can't take the throne, I'm at least happy he will receive his rightful inheritance from his father--and that his father is publicly claiming him. I'm glad his mother stood up for her son--funny thing is, she said she "forgot" to take her contraception pill--LMAO--now that's some funny shyt! Nevetheless, she and her other two sons (by a previous marriage) will also be taken care of FOR LIFE.

NO, this has been the standard rule for just about all European royal families (with some exceptions) since the Middle Ages. William the Conqueror was himself, the illegitimate child of Robert II (The Devil), Duke of Normandy and the daughter of a tanner. However, such practices (illegitimate sons succeeding their fathers) became rarer with the increased power of the Church and the changing climate of the times.

You see the royal families did not want the throne to be disputed and fought over by the children of the different women whom the monarch had slept with (as was the case of monarchies were the monarchs were able to have many wives and concubines). And they sought to create a clear and direct line of decent from monarch to heir. Hence, the exclusion of all the children who's mothers were not married to monarch. This also brought the added advantage of royal families being able to make marriage alliances with one another and have their heirs be descended from royalty on both sides.

This off course would sometimes rebound against the monarchs, when they would have many illegitimate children but no legitimates ones to succeed them. For example, William IV of Great Britain & Ireland had many illegitimate children (15 by one woman alone) yet he could not produce a legitimate one and so he was succeed by his niece Victoria instead of by a son.

Thus, that child has no claims what so ever to the throne. However, he probably will live a life of luxury and ease even though he won't have the right to succeed his father and sit on the throne.

Babygurl,

Does Albert love Black women or does he love having SEX with them? 2 different things. Don'tcha think?

Good point though about Kola spreading for a White guy she wouldn't want to make a baby with (though, to be fair, she's HARDLY unique in that regard).

There is hope: Prince Albert could always marry his baby's mama and make his son a prince, or Albert could always change the laws of his principality like his father did for his situation.

If Allessandro Medici can get passed his illegitimacy to gain his title, this little baby sure can. :-)

Good grief! It's "Aw", sukey sukey, now. Not "all." And the possessive pronoun is "mine", not "mines!" And who is the real fool in this royal liaison? The mother of Prince Albert's child is set for life. That was a very costly quickie especially since he is the one being held up to ridicule, not her. BTW, Queen Elizabeth the first, arguably England's most powerful monarch was considered illegitmate by all the heads of Europe because of Henry the eighth's bogus marriage to Anne Boleyn.

ABM, since I don't know the man, I can't say whether its love or not and no one but the parties involved will ever know the truth. Although Kola seems to be more learned about his personal comings and goings than the rest of us outsiders. The rest of us can only ponder and guess. But clearly it would seem he's doing what every other man since the beginning of time has done if a woman allowed it, so whether his women were blond and blue-eyed, or orange with purple eyes he's still sowing the same oats he thinks he's entitled to.

Here's another one. Monaco. A joke. It is a Mafia front and would not exist save for the casinos. Folks, I think we need to understand what a real country is, what royalty is, what power is.

Europe is full of royalty--people with holes in their socks renting out their castles and chateaus so they can make ends meet. People who got a title and nothing else. You can buy one of these titles yourself in England or Malta or a lot of these other places if you have enough money.

Why would we be impressed that any Africans or African Americans would be hooked up with these phonies?

Chris,

I too am often surprised by how much of a fuss is made over European royals. Seldom is some much uttered about people who've accomplished so little.

And Monacco is the most baffling of all to me.

Because this 'country' has only about 30,000 citizens and is said to be smaller in area than NYC's Central Park.

I haven't missed the point. Black people are living two hundred years behind the times, reading Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty and thinking, "Oh, wouldn't it be great to be a king or a princess?"

Well, if the royal family of Monaco got so much power why did they just lay back after Princess Grace was knocked off?

Folks, the time of kings and queens has been over since the American Revolution. The CEO of one Fortune 500 company can make probably anybody but the House of Saud or the Sultan of Brunei sit up beg and roll over.

Chris Hayden,

I will concede a minor point. I believe that Americans as a whole are fascinated (to various extents) to European royals. But I think the fascination is based on a "celebrity interest" thing. People are curious about the rich and famous, rather it be a Hollywood actor or a Prince. I don't think it's based on being impressed or not being impressed. I think we would have the same fascination over African Royalty (if we ever heard about them).

I still don't understand the hate for the geographically-challenged countries but everyone is entitled to their opinion, which is why I love the Royalty-free U.S. of A.

Njmcgee,

I would add I believe American's obsession with royals stem from their being plied with fairytales about beautiful princesses, dashing princes, castles, riches and the like.

Also, I think there is an element within all people, even amongst Americans, that tacitly embrace the notion of being ruled. And the royals are a living embodiment of such.

That's why so very much of the world is comprised of either outright dictatorships or defacto monarchies that are only pretending to tbe republics/democracies.

Ok the reason why Alexandre cannot be the sovereign prince (ther eare no kings in monaco b/c monaco is a principality and so the ruling family is a princely family and the head is his serene highness prince...of monaco (now ALbert II)) is b/c Albert never married and did not have legitimate kids. THe rule before said that no females could ascend the throne. But the father and pervious ruler-Prince Ranier (Grace's husband)-change this rule to allow females to take over just in case Albert does not have any legit. heirs. Also, Ranier made it, as stated above, the kids' parents had to be married to maek the kids legitimate. SO this rules out Alexandre (as well as the other illegit. kids that Prince ALbert says is possible he could have) and Princess Stephanie's (ALbert's youngest sister) child-Camille. So the father, the late Prince Ranier, took all steps to ensure the survival and continuity of the Princely Family of Monaco, who has ruled for 800 years.

But you know I read what ppl are saying about Nicole on forums that are related to royalty and they totally dog her. And I tell them that it is b/c she is black cuz they are not talking baout the other mother-mother of Jazmin Grace who in the 90's was denied by ALbert, but since Albert's dad passed away Albert will probably acknowledge her soon (and there are more kids and paternity tests to come!!!!-a royal MAury Povich show!). But no one dogs her (I guess cuz she is white).

ANyway, thigns should be getting interesting in Monaco now that Prince Albert II has taken over. Personally I don't think he'll ever settle down (he's 46 for pete's sake and is stilll having fun).

If I was Nicole I would have kept quiet to see what he did. I would have made an arrrangement with him and let it be. Her child will always be branded with the tititle black princely bastard. People can be so harsh and cruel which can really mess with a child's self esteem. Prince Albert is going to marry him a White woman and probably visit Alexandre every blue moon like other distant fathers. Who wants that for their child
