I didn't JUST find this stuff out, I just brought it up since discussing this in my school would be like talking to a room of mannequins. I craved a response. :-) :-)
Anyway since everyone else shared their history I might as well...

Both of my mother's grandmothers were NA. Her paternal grandmother was a Cherokee (makes sense considering that part of the family's mostly from North Carolina) and her Maternal Grandmother.....well..... let me explain.

According to the family history, my great grand mother was being transported to Florida with her mother & people by Union soldiers during the end of the civil war. In modern day Oxford, NC, my GGM's mother fell ill and both had to stop and settle in oxford. There, my GGM later met my GGF and since then both she and her mother stayed.

So as of now, my GGM's tribe and origin is still undetermined and I am still researching along with my black ancestors prior to 1865. We still have family in Oxford whom we visit often, though.


As for my Father's side, his paternal grandmother was "white and indian", that's all I've been told so far.
