Perhaps more than anyone else, Connerly has been able to fashion a formidable assault against Affirmative Action. Now I don't know how you define "clever", but what Connerly and his cohorts have been able to achieve - whether you like it or not - sure rates as such in my book.

And I think Blacks don't financially back liberals because most of us don't give too bits of a damn about what most liberal (and conservative) Blacks think and do. Because in spite of what either Jesse Jackson (and Shelby Steele) would assert - MOST Black folks (not unlike other Americans) fall squarely in the middle on most sociopolitical issues.
