My friends, Roland Laird and Taneshia Nash Laird, have re-issued their graphic history of African Americans, "Still I Rise". Illustrations are by Elihu "Adofo" Bey, and there's a foreword by Charles Johnson. Peep Obama with our other Greats on the new cover!

The original version ended with the Million Man March. Topics covered include: slavery, Nat Turner Rebellion, military contributions of African Americans, the birth of modern integration, Freedom Summer, Hurricane Katrina, notables such as Ida B. Wells and Frederick Douglass, and much more.

I look forward to reading this, not only for the content, but for the format. I read Mat Johnson's "Incognegro" last year, and that was my first graphic novel.

As Troy reminds us, you can get this (and any book!) from Amazon via AALBC. ;-)
