West should give black people credit for not being naive about race after all of these centuries. I have yet to encounter one black person young or old who thinks Obama's election means that racial prejudice has disappeared.

It's also obvious from Obama's cabinet picks that only the upper echelon of blacks will be entrusted with any responsibility in running the country and even these high achievers are in the minority.

Obama is only as powerful as Congress will allow him to be, and as of yesterday, there is only one black senator.
