Hey Muzuri,

I don't know who gave you the 1 star but I'll cast my vote afteer this post.

While I don't feel quite as strongly as you do. For example we gave our gov't enough money to take care of the Katrina aftermath, so I'm not going to begroan people who go to movies.

I also think a good actor requires talent or at least a lot of training.

I think the NAACP giving out awards for the things you mentioned is a great idea. Though, I'm sure it will not help TV ratings.

Now the NAACP does award the The Spingarn Medal each year, but who the heck can name the last recipient? The winners of this medal are all great people.

Maybe they should have a medal for folks in many categories. If the NAACP gave teachers, Dr's, humanitarians, etc, image awards; it would show folks, especially your young people, which accomplishments we find truly value.

Not only should they give out these awards they have to promote the fact that this is done.

What good does it do to give a Jamie Foxx an award for what is agurably mediocre album...

I think the book awards are a good start (in that a major orgnaization is giving authors awards), but they should have more categories and do something about their selection process.
