I heard something interesting on a panel discussion on MSNBC wherein one black guy made the point that it was not Al Sharpton, but Al Roker, the black weatherman on the "Today" show, who was responsible for the action NBC took. Roker headed up a bunch of black and white NBC employees on the station who demanded that the big-wigs do damage control by firing Imus because his latest offense was the last straw. Another panelist agreed saying that corporate America doesn't really take Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson that serious anymore because they are too self-serving and their influence has dwindled.
