Barak can make it. Now whether or not he does that with the blessings of the black community is another question, but suprisingly enough, the (traditional) black community's vote is so marginalized and diminished enough that he can do it without getting a substantial portion of the black vote. You have to analyze the political spectrum a little differently, because the thinking has long since changed. The allegiances have also changed over the past forty-five years, and the "chicken and waffle" crowd will have to get with the program sooner or later - like it or not.
