I'm not sure if he {Basir} is being truthful, or just using this as an excuse/defense but I heard that many patients feel this way after being diagnosed. It's scary because that could be the main reason the disease is spreading so rapidly... but for a community that don't take mental health issues seriously, I don't see how that problem can be solved.

Wow... One in 20. And I'm assuming that's only the ones who've been diagnosed. DEVASTATING! It just goes to show that this is an issue that we (AAs) gotta stop ignoring. It's depressing but we must do something, because if D.C. is representative of the AA community (which it could be since it's virtually all black) we're in really, really bad shape.
