I think both Monique and newcomer Gaby will have to be content with just "the honor of just being nominated" for an Oscar.

After Jennifer's Hudson's cinderella story, I wonder whether the debut performance of another black actress will earn the little statue. If, like last year's contest that pitted 2 black actresses against each other, both Gaby and Monique are nominated, they will cancel each other out; something the Academy might count on.

We shall see.
