Barring Malcolm X, I'm not impressed with any of the leaders he mentioned from the old school. As for the so called leaders we have now, AT LEAST shit happens when Jesse Jackson gets involved and if Al Sharpton is good for one thing, the brotha knows how to talk his shit. The rest of them are completely worthless though -- they're either too far to the left or too far to the right and Barack Obama is too damn mainstream for me. What SCARES me the most, however, are men like the naive, conspiracy minded Russel Simmons and one-deminsional, simple-minded men like Chris Rock and Spike Lee, who both, by the way, did jobs that were beyond embarrassing, inarticulate, ignorant and just plain idiotic, while appearing on the Bill Maher show. There's absolutely no doubt in my mind that if these guys are our future... we might as well guzzle the Wild Turkey, put some aluminum foil on the ham, smoke a couple of newports, and say godnight!
...So in my honest - unbiased opinion, the only viable solution, if we truly want to go the black leader route, is a women. It's Just a thought and besides, last I checked, black women were leading black men academically anyway.
