I can only assume at this point that none of ya have ventured to see this. You are missing a treat with some beats. This a very nice documentary going back to the beginnings of Hip Hop born in the Boogie Down Bronx. Its focus is on the art of freestyle(written or off the top of your dome), cyphering, and battling. If you ever thought you knew who were the "sickest" word swordmen out there... HEAR YE, HEAR YE!!! PREPARE TO BE STUN GUNNED!!! ***Eminem is not one of them*** I was aware of a lot of these cats just from my taste for the underground. Mos Def and Talib (Blackstar) were on hand, Aceylone, Supernatural MC, the Freestyle Fellowship, Lord Finesse, Craig G, and Juice from Chi . I will offer this advice for those who are sleeping on this...if you think you know hip hop you need to see this. Or just drop by Washington Park in the Lower East Side (right around the corner from the Bowery Poetry<<legendary>>) to check out a cypher. Notes that other folks wrote: "The energy is contagious, the poetry inspired, The most lively and informative movie About hip-hop since WILDSTYLE " — Amy Taubin The Village Voice "...Takes on the culture and history of hip-hop, an awesome high-octane art form to behold, Will literally leave you speechless." — Indiewire "...Inspiring, mesmerizing, and creative Revolutionary street poetry.... Eloquent social knowledge, The best of rap!" — Variety WINNER of the HBO Best Documentary Award at Urban World Film Festival (New York City) WINNER of the Special Jury Prize for Documentary Filmmaking, Florida FilmFestival WINNER of the Best of The Fest. at the Adelaide International Film Festival WINNER of the Best Documentary Award & Maverick Award at the Woodstock Film Festival WINNER of the Best Documentary & Audience Award at the Pan African Film Festival WINNER of the Best Sound Track Los Angeles Independent Film Festival
