Interesting . . . the draft riots: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Draft_Riots During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Irish gangs, as well as police departments that were generally comprised mostly of Irish, not only rampaged black folk but also other Italians and Jews. Thus, not only is this a question of riots but also cases of everyday violence directed at blacks and others on the streets . . . much like it is today, except that the police officers are black! With that said, hate is a strong word! Also, there have been other groups who have also directed violence towards blacks! If folk are too be hated then it would be white folks, WASP in particular nor the Irish . . . Let the record show that I hate neither . . . I'm a peaceful brotha! |
